HIV causes structural heart disease - detectable blood viral load nearly doubles the prevalence of heart disease
Presented at EuroEcho-Imaging, the findings support the introduction of CV screening in all HIV patients: “One of the main objectives in HIV treatment is that blood virus levels are undetectable. When it is not achieved, the treatment is usually changed. Our findings show that having any detectable level of virus in the blood nearly doubles the risk of heart disease.”  Read more Topics: Non-invasive imaging: Echocardiography, MR/CT, Nuclear (Source: ESC News and Press)
