Update on the Methodological Quality of Research Published in The American Journal of Sports Medicine: Comparing 2011-2013 to 10 and 20 Years Prior
Conclusion:
Despite a dramatic increase in the number of published articles, the research published in AJSM shifted toward more prospective, randomized, controlled, and blinded designs during 2011-2013 compared with 2001-2003 and 1991-1993, demonstrating a continued improvement in methodological quality. A Systematic Review of the Outcomes of Posterolateral Corner Knee Injuries, Part 1: Surgical Treatment of Acute Injuries
Conclusion:
The repair of acute grade III PLC injuries and staged treatment of combined cruciate injuries were associated with a substantially higher postoperative PLC failure rate. Further research is required to identify the reconstruction technique that provides optimal subjective and objective outcomes. (Source: The American Journal of Sports Medicine)

Economic Analyses in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Qualitative and Systematic Review
Conclusion:
Results from this review suggest that early single-bundle, single (endoscopic)-incision outpatient ACLR using either BPTB or HS autograft provides the most value. In the setting of bilateral ACL rupture, single-setting bilateral ACLR is more cost-effective than staged unilateral ACLR. Procedures using CANS technology do not yet yield results that are superior to the results of a standard surgical procedure, and CANS has substantially greater costs. Symptomatic Heterotopic Ossification After Ulnar Collateral Ligament Reconstruction: Clinical Significance and Treatment Outcome
Conclusion:
Symptomatic HO after UCL reconstruction is very uncommon but may prove to be a significant complication among athletes. With appropriate treatment, the majority of patients were able to return to the same level of play. Early identification of this complication is important, as revision surgery with excision of osteophytes resulted in a return to a similar level of play in most patients. Subradiographic Foot and Ankle Fractures and Bone Contusions Detected by MRI in Elite Ice Hockey Players
Conclusion:
MRI can show severe bone injuries that are not visible radiographically in ice hockey players. Most fractures and high-grade contusions involve the medial ankle and midfoot bones, can be caused by direct blows from the puck, and are associated with prolonged recovery times.
