Aging effects in the expression of macrophages in post ‐treatment apical periodontitis lesions
ConclusionThe intensity of the macrophage staining was greater in the connective tissue of cysts and granulomas alike in the younger/middle age adult patients, suggesting that these cells participate actively in this tissue. Immune responses in older patients may be compromised, suggesting that there is a greater tendency for the endodontic treatment of these patients to fail. (Source: Special Care in Dentistry)

Palatal perforation and chemical ulcers of the tongue in a blind patient
We report a unique case of a potassium aluminum sulfate oral dissolution leading to palatal chemical necrosis and extensive chemical ulcers on the tongue. The patient, a 47‐year‐old white, blind male, denied using cocaine or other illegal drugs that could cause such lesions. His self‐medication started as a treatment for a traumatic ulcerative lesion on the hard palate. After palatal perforation, he started another self‐medication routine, mixing corticoid cream and tandrilax tablets with a gauze obturator. Our treatment comprised the removal of all chemical factors, a surgical debridement, and a prosthetic obturat...

16 ‐Year follow‐up of an avulsed maxillary central incisor after replantation following 10‐h storage: An unusual case
ABSTRACT Tooth avulsion is a type of dental injury defined as the complete displacement of a tooth out of the alveolar socket, and the lack of prompt treatment measures can result in the loss of function, poor quality of life, and psychological and social problems. However, several factors may not permit the immediate replantation of an avulsed tooth; therefore, delayed replantation has emerged as an alternative to meet the esthetic, functional, and psychological demands of patients. Here it was described that the successful replantation of an avulsed maxillary central incisor in a 9‐year‐old boy who presented at the c...

Long ‐term dental management of a patient with features of Schöpf–Schulz–Passarge syndrome
ABSTRACT Schöpf–Schulz–Passarge syndrome (SSPS) is thought to be a rare autosomal recessive condition similar to many other ectodermal dysplasias. Diagnosis is difficult, with many possible differential diagnoses; however, eyelid cysts are a commonly seen feature. This clinical report aims to highlight this and describe the dental features and management of this syndrome, which existing literature has not previously described.
