An adult case of skeletal Class II with high mandibular plane angle treated by anterior rotation of the mandible with miniscrew anchorage
Publication date: Available online 7 February 2017 Source:Orthodontic Waves Author(s): Isao Koyama, Takakazu Yagi, Takahiro Ikemori, Shouichi Miyawaki This case report illustrates the successful treatment of anterior rotation of the mandible due to intrusion of the entire maxillary arch, using miniscrew anchorage in an adult. A woman, aged 24 years and 8 months, had a convex profile, which she desired to improve. She was diagnosed with a skeletal Class II jaw-base relationship with a high mandibular plane angle. After extraction of four premolars, three miniscrews were implanted at the median palatine suture and the ...

Antero-posterior positions of teeth in bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion
Conclusion Subjects with BMDP showed a palatally located root apex of the maxillary central incisor and mesially tipped lateral teeth when compared with subjects with normal occlusion and balanced profile from the same ethnic population. (Source: Orthodontic Waves)

The effects of glass fiber-reinforced plastic for orthodontic wire on the malocclusion of mild anterior crowding during the initial leveling stage: A typodont experimental study
Conclusion GFRP wire showed equivalent efficiency to that of commercial Ni–Ti wire in improving mild anterior crowding in a typodont experiment. Therefore, GFRP wire can be used in place of Ni–Ti wire during the initial leveling stage. (Source: Orthodontic Waves)

Effects of facial mask treatment are attributed to accelerated maxillary growth and inhibited counter-clockwise total rotation of the mandibular corpus: A structural superimposition study
Conclusion Accelerated maxillary sutural growth and inhibited counter-clockwise total rotation of mandibular corpus growth attributed to facial mask treatment may contribute to improvements in Class III malocclusion. The greater the acceleration of maxillary sutural growth due to facial mask treatment, the greater the increase in maxillary counter-clockwise rotation. (Source: Orthodontic Waves)

Effect of four different mouthwashes on force-degradation pattern of orthodontic elastomeric chains
Conclusions Application of persica, chlorhexidine, sodium fluoride and the combination of chlorhexidine and sodium fluoride mouthwashes had no adverse effect on the force-degradation of orthodontic elastomeric chains. (Source: Orthodontic Waves)

Three-dimensional analysis of changes in pharyngeal airway space after mandibular setback surgery
Conclusions Combined orthognathic–orthodontic treatment improved skeletal 3 deformities. Orthognathic surgery reduced the volume and the antero-posterior width of the pharyngeal airway of patients with such deformities. (Source: Orthodontic Waves)

Non-surgical treatment of anterior open bite using miniscrew implants with posterior bite plate
Conclusion Outcomes after treatment with miniscrew implants and bite plate can be predicted by the amount of intrusion in posterior teeth. The bite plate seems not to affect the muscular activity after removal of the plate. (Source: Orthodontic Waves)

Prediction of airway volume from lateral cephalograms and correlation among 2D and 3D measurements: A preliminary study
Conclusion R and R2 from the distances and area with volume for subgroups demonstrated moderately high to extremely high values. Predicton equations of volume were proposed in these subgroups from 2D. (Source: Orthodontic Waves)
