CommFABnet is a European Commission‐funded project aimed at significantly improving the information flow between European research projects in the fields of food, agriculture and fisheries, and biotechnology (the so‐called bioeconomy) and stakeholders, such as businesses, policy makers and European citizens. The Institute of Food Science and Technology is this year celebrating 50 years since its formation. But we are not planning a year of retrospection – far from it. The main focus for the Institute's celebrations is very much on the future, hence the main theme for our 50th Jubilee year; ‘The Fantastic Future of Food’. Update of the vitamin D content of fortified foods and supplements in the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey Nutrient Databank
Abstract
Food composition tables require updating regularly to keep abreast of the periodic reformulation of fortified foods and dietary supplements. This paper describes a process undertaken to update the vitamin D content of fortified foods and supplements consumed in the UK, and the impact this may have on reported vitamin D intake.
