The flip side of traditional nursing education: A literature review
The flipped classroom (FC) andragogy purports an improvement of critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students. This literature review explores fourteen research studies and discusses outcome measures reported on the effectiveness of using this teaching modality. Students described the learning activities during the classroom meeting times as valuable and indicated the interaction and engagement were beneficial to their learning. Changing students ’ perceptions of the homeless: A community service learning experience
The homeless are an underserved, local vulnerable population that can benefit from a service learning clinical practicum experience for baccalaureate prepared nursing students. Learning diversity in nurse education and practice - Current challenges, contemporary perspectives and innovative solutions
The number of students identified as having additional and diverse learning needs entering higher education in the UK has increased significantly in the few decades (The Higher Education Statistics Agency, 2013). This trend is also reported internationally as the education sector responds to legislative and societal changes in diverse student populations (Azzopardi et al., 2013; Troxel, 2010). Similarly, the number of students who have diverse learning needs choosing to enter nurse education has shown an increase (Howlin et al., 2014; Hargreaves et al., 2014; Wray et al 2012).
