Addressing rural and remote access disparities for patients with inflammatory arthritis through video ‐conferencing and innovative inter‐professional care models
ConclusionsWe found no evidence of a difference in effectiveness between inter‐professional video‐conferencing and traditional rheumatology clinic for both the provision of effective follow‐up care and patient satisfaction for established RA patients. High dropout rates reinforce the need for consultation with patients' needs and preferences in developing models of care. While use of video‐conferencing/telehealth technologies may be a distinct advantage for some patients, there may be loss of travel‐related auxiliary benefits for others. The feasibility and acceptability of a physical activity intervention for older people with chronic musculoskeletal pain: The iPOPP pilot trial protocol
Abstract IntroductionThis pilot trial will inform the design and methods of a future full‐scale randomized controlled trial (RCT) and examine the feasibility, acceptability and fidelity of the Increasing Physical activity in Older People with chronic Pain (iPOPP) intervention, a healthcare assistant (HCA)‐supported intervention to promote walking in older adults with chronic musculoskeletal pain in a primary care setting. Methods and analysisThe iPOPP study is an individually randomized, multicentre, three‐parallel‐arm pilot RCT. A total of 150 participants aged ≥65 years with chronic pain in one or more index s...

The prevalence of back pain in patients in one Australian tertiary hospital population
ConclusionsHospital LOS for patients who complained of BP at any time during their admission was 3 days longer than those who had no BP, and a history of BP predicted a higher likelihood of BP during admission. Screening of patients on admission to identify any history of BP, and application of a package of care including early mobilization and analgesia may prevent the onset of BP and reduce LOS. An evaluation of a pain education programme for physiotherapists in clinical practice
ConclusionsA pain education programme delivered to physiotherapists in clinical practice was both possible to deliver and acceptable to participants. A key strength of the programme was the applicability to real‐life practice, which was valued by physiotherapists. While physiotherapists felt that pain neurophysiology education was important, they reported lacking confidence in implementing their pain neurophysiology knowledge with patients. Thus, more time is needed to focus on pain neurophysiology education, with the aim of increasing confidence with the application of this approach in clinical practice. (Source: Musculoskeletal Care)
