Stories of change: the Text Analysis of handovers in an Italian psychiatric residential care home
Conclusions: Handovers transcripts document the following changes: a. a shift from a symptom‐based to a recovery‐oriented approach; b. a modification of the MHWs values towards an holistic view of the patient; c. a growing importance assigned to accountability, services integration and teamwork. Addressing the mental health needs of looked after children in foster care: the experiences of foster carers
This study adds to our understanding of foster carers’ experiences of the mental health needs of looked after children and demonstrates some of the challenges associated with accessing appropriate and timely mental health services. A thematic analysis of the experience of UK mental health nurses who have trained in Solution Focused Brief Therapy
This study sought to explore the experience of nurses who had completed a six‐month training course in SFBT.MethodsUsing a qualitative methodology, 20 nurses who had undertaken SFBT training were interviewed at various locations across Scotland.ResultsFive main themes emerged from analysis of the 20 interviews. Motivations for adolescent self ‐harm and the implications for mental health nurses
This study identifies motivations behind self‐harm in school‐based adolescents using a cross‐sectional survey. Motivations behind self‐harm were elicited using a scale and open‐ended responses.ResultsOf the 856 adolescents who completed the survey across 11 postprimary schools, 103 reported a history of self‐harm. The most commonly endorsed reason for self‐harm was to ‘get relief from a terrible state of mind’ (79%). EQUIP training the trainers: an evaluation of a training programme for service users and carers involved in training mental health professionals in user ‐involved care planning
