Reliability of Hand-Held Transcranial Doppler with M-mode Ultrasound in Middle Cerebral Artery Measurement
Conclusions There exists good intra- and interrater agreement in MFV and PI measurements using M-mode TCD. These results support the use of this noninvasive tool and are important for clinical and investigational purposes. (Source: Journal of Medical Ultrasound)

Evolving Cesarean Scar Pregnancy into Morbidity Adherent Placenta —Evidence from Serial Ultrasound Examination
Conclusion Ultrasonography remains the main tool for diagnosis of morbid adherent placenta with several typical clues, including abnormal vasculature, increased size and numbers of vascular sinus, absence of uterovesicle border or retroplacental hypoechoic zone, and invaded placenta insertion on myometrium. Proper planning prior to the operation and detailed counseling may be necessary, as well as hysterectomy; massive bleeding with transfusion remained the most seen complication. Serum Calprotectin in Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Promising Diagnostic Marker, How Far Is It Related to Activity and Sonographic Findings?
Conclusion Calprotectin was found to have high association with laboratory and ultrasonography markers of inflammation in RA patients, so it is recommended for use as a marker of inflammatory activity in RA patients especially for the follow-up of patients on biological therapy to assess its efficacy. Ultrasonography-based Fetal Weight Estimation: Finding an Appropriate Model for  an Indian Population
Conclusion It was observed that the existing models have higher errors on Indian population than on their native populations. This points toward limitations in direct application of these models on Indian population without due consideration. Therefore, it is recommended that clinicians should exert caution in interpretation of fetal weight estimations based on these models. Moreover, this study highlights a need of models based on native Indian population. (Source: Journal of Medical Ultrasound)

The Role of Breast Ultrasound in Early Cancer Detection
Publication date: Available online 5 December 2016 Source:Journal of Medical Ultrasound Author(s): Huay-Ben Pan Ultrasonography (US) is currently considered the first-line examination in the detection and characterization of breast lesions including the evaluation of breast cancer. Yet only few single-center cohort studies analyzing breast US in the framework of screening could be identified. In spite of mammography consider as the primary method for screening especially the noteworthy ability of microcalcifications detection. US is good in mass or mass- like lesion detection, especially in the dense breast population t...

Role of Abdominal Ultrasound in the Diagnosis of Typhoid Fever in Pediatric Patients
Publication date: Available online 19 November 2016 Source:Journal of Medical Ultrasound Author(s): Niranjan Sahu, Sibanarayan Rath, Rabindra N. Padhy An early diagnosis of typhoid fever caused by Salmonella typhi is difficult because of several spectra of clinical findings, identical to those of several other types of infections. A definitive diagnosis of typhoid fever is made by hemoculture as well as the Widal test. With pediatric patients, this life-threatening infection remains inherently long enough, demanding urgent attention. In typhoid fever, splenomegaly, enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes (MLNs), bowel wall th...

Role of Left Atrial Reservoir Strain Rate in Left Atrial Remodeling in Severe Mitral Regurgitation
Conclusion In severe chronic Carpentier II MR, a reduced follow-up LASRR predicted future accelerated LA remodeling. Patients with a poor baseline LASRR are at a higher risk of its deterioration. (Source: Journal of Medical Ultrasound)

Alcoholic Liver Disease in the Asian –Pacific Region with High Prevalence of Chronic Viral Hepatitis
Publication date: Available online 15 October 2016 Source:Journal of Medical Ultrasound Author(s): Sien-Sing Yang The hospitalized cases and mortality from alcoholic liver disease (ALD) are increasing in Taiwan and worldwide. Meanwhile, the Asia–Pacific region also has a high prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The Taiwanese have the highest percentage of aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) deficiency and the lowest amount of alcohol consumption. Based on the histological changes, ALD is clinically classified as steatosis, alcoholic hepatitis, alcoholic fibrosis, alcoholic cirrhosis,...
