Spontaneous dissection of the renal artery: case report

True dorsalis pedis artery aneurysm: case report
Abstract A true...

An integrative review of associations between polymorphic variants and the metabolic syndrome
The objective of this review is to describe Brazilian scientific research investigating associations between the metabolic syndrome and genetic factors. We selected fifteen studies that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Our analysis revealed that there is a modest volume of Brazilian studies investigating relationships between genes, their polymorphic variants and the metabolic syndrome and its risk factors. Therefore, more studies are needed to better understand the biological roles played by genetic polymorphisms and their relationships with metabolic syndrome or its risk factors. Effect of taping as treatment to reduce breast cancer lymphedema: literature review
The objective of this study was to review the use of taping as an alternative/complementary treatment to reduce lymphedema. A literature review was conducted of scientific articles indexed on the PubMed, LILACS, MEDLINE, and PEDro databases and Google Scholar, and nine articles were selected. It was found that taping is a complementary therapy for reducing lymphedema, which may be used as an alternative treatment method, but cannot substitute multilayer compression therapy. Women in vascular surgery: a brief analysis of the Brazilian profile
Conclusions Despite the limitations of the study population, this preliminary study confirms the idea that female vascular surgeons demonstrate continuous dedication to practicing their specialty and sets a precedent so that further studies can investigate the professional practice of female vascular surgeons in greater detail, stimulating discussion of gender inequalities in medical practice. Acute effects of strength exercise with blood flow restriction on vascular function of young healthy males
Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that one session of low intensity strength training with blood flow restriction does not reduce bioavailability of nitric oxide or induce redox imbalance in healthy young men. (Source: Jornal Vascular Brasileiro)

Location and hemodynamic role of perforating veins independent of saphenous veins
Conclusions Perforating veins independent of the saphenous veins are most frequent in the leg, draining reflux from tributary veins. Irrespective of location, perforating veins with reflux had mean caliber of 3.5 mm. (Source: Jornal Vascular Brasileiro)

Totally implantable chemotherapy catheter embolization in inferior vena cava
We report here a case of fully implantable catheter embolization in a 57-year-old female who had undergone laparotomy for complex adnexal lesion due to ovary cancer with disseminated peritoneal carcinomatosis, diagnosed intraoperatively. The patient was treated with hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, and radical oncological surgery was not performed. Histopathological analysis revealed G3 ovarian adenocarcinoma. In October 2013, a routine radiological examination diagnosed fracture and embolization of the distal segment of the catheter into the retrohepatic and suprahepatica inferior vena cava. The patient d...

Drug-coated balloon used to treat in-stent restenosis of the renal artery
We describe a case of de novo renal artery in-stent restenosis (ISR) treated with drug-coated balloon angioplasty with acceptable short-term results, achieving blood pressure control using fewer antihypertensive agents. The experience and results obtained with DCBs in other territories could suggest and justify use of this technology in renal artery ISR. (Source: Jornal Vascular Brasileiro)

Pseudoaneurysms of the superficial temporal artery: three case reports
Abstract Pseudoaneurysms of the superficial t...

Endovascular treatment of pseudoaneurysms secondary to chronic pancreatitis: reports of two cases
This article describes two cases of pseudoaneurysm in patients with chronic alcoholic pancreatitis; one involving the splenic artery and the other the gastroduodenal artery, complicated by thoracic and abdominal bleeding respectively. Both were successfully treated, using minimally invasive endovascular methods to implant coils and stent-grafts.
