An Initiative to Standardize the Identification of and Acute Response to Postoperative Lower-Extremity Neurological Deficits: Effects on Provider Knowledge, Confidence, and Communication Skills
Conclusions: A multimodality educational curriculum aimed at quality improvement can produce significant knowledge improvements, but these gains may not be maintained over time without further instruction. Gains in confidence and communication skills appear to be more long-lasting. (Source: JBJS)

Orthopaedic Trauma Care Capacity Assessment and Strategic Planning in Ghana: Mapping a Way Forward
Conclusions: The availability of several low-cost resources could be better supplied by improvements in organization and training for orthopaedic trauma care. There is a critical need to advocate and provide funding for orthopaedic resources. These initiatives might be particularly effective if aimed at hospitals that could provide care to a large proportion of the population. (Source: JBJS)

Intraosseous Injection of Simvastatin in Poloxamer 407 Hydrogel Improves Pedicle-Screw Fixation in Ovariectomized Minipigs
Conclusions: A single intraosseous injection of simvastatin in thermosensitive poloxamer 407 hydrogel stimulated bone formation, increased BMD, improved bone microstructure, promoted osseointegration, and significantly enhanced the stability of pedicle screws in calcium-restricted ovariectomized minipigs. Clinical Relevance: These results provide rationale for evaluating intraosseous injection of simvastatin in poloxamer 407 to enhance implant fixation in patients with osteoporosis. (Source: JBJS)

Clinical Validation of the Glenoid Track Concept in Anterior Glenohumeral Instability
Conclusions: The application of the glenoid track concept to our cohort was superior to using glenoid bone loss alone with regard to predicting postoperative stability. This method of assessment is encouraged as a routine part of the preoperative evaluation of all patients under consideration for arthroscopic anterior stabilization. Final Fusion After Growing-Rod Treatment for Early Onset Scoliosis: Is It Really Final?
Conclusions: A higher-than-anticipated percentage of patients treated with growing rods required unplanned reoperation following final fusion. Long-term follow-up after final fusion is necessary to determine true final results. Patients and parents need to be counseled regarding the possibility of further surgery after final fusion. Level of Evidence: Therapeutic Level IV. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence. (Source: JBJS)

Scoring the Current Risk Stratification Guidelines in Follow-up Evaluation of Patients After Metal-on-Metal Hip Arthroplasty: A Proposal for a Metal-on-Metal Risk Score Supporting Clinical Decision-Making
Conclusions: Although the use of MoM hip arthroplasty has been limited since 2010, we continue to be faced with the follow-up and risk assessment of thousands of patients who have not had a revision. As more knowledge about risk stratification is gained, the complexity of the algorithms is expected to increase. We propose the use of the MoM risk score as a tool to aid in the clinical decision-making process. Level of Evidence: Therapeutic Level IV. Assessment of Femoral Head Revascularization in Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease Using Serial Perfusion MRI
Conclusions: Revascularization of the necrotic femoral head increased over time in a horseshoe pattern, starting from the posterior, lateral, and medial aspects of the femoral epiphysis. The rate of revascularization was highly variable among patients. Level of Evidence: Prognostic Level IV. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence. (Source: JBJS)
