Thermal Testing of Titanium Implants and the Surrounding Ex-Vivo Tissue Irradiated With 9.3um CO2 Laser
Conclusions: Laser irradiation of titanium implant surfaces using a 9.3-μm carbon dioxide laser with an average power of 0.7 W showed no increase in thermal temperature of the implant body and tissue temperatures as well as no evidence of implant surface damage. (Source: Implant Dentistry)

Alveolar Ridge Preservation Using Autologous Demineralized Tooth Matrix and Platelet-Rich Fibrin Versus Platelet-Rich Fibrin Alone: A Split-Mouth Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial
Conclusion: Application of aDTM with PRF membrane is useful for ridge preservation by reducing the horizontal ridge collapse and promoting bone healing as shown clinically and radiographically. (Source: Implant Dentistry)

Effect of 5 Popular Disinfection Methods on Microflora of Laboratory: Customized Implant Abutments
Conclusion: All the methods could decontaminate machined titanium surfaces, although complete microbial elimination was not achieved by diode laser. None of the treatments altered surface roughness significantly, except for sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl). (Source: Implant Dentistry)

Effect of Implant-Abutment Connection Type on Bone Around Dental Implants in Long-Term Observation: Internal Cone Versus Internal Hex
Conclusion: The internal cone connection reduced bone resorption compared with the internal hex. Both groups of implants had a 100% survival rate. (Source: Implant Dentistry)

Clinical Factors and Cellular Responses of In Situ Human Alveolar Bone–Derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Associated With Early Periimplant Marginal Bone Loss: A Prospective Cohort Pilot Study
Conclusion: Within the limitations of the study, certain genes involved in bone remodeling (runt-related transcription factor-2 [Runx-2], bone morphogenetic protein-2 [BMP-2], and peroxisome proliferator–activated receptor gamma-2 [PPARγ-2]) and RANKL/OPG are correlated with early periimplant bone loss, with the type of suprastructure and the involved jaw being significant clinical factors. Using Digital Technique to Obtain the Ideal Soft Tissue Contour in Immediate Implants With Provisionalization
This paper presents a newly developed digital technique to make a provisional crown that mimics the natural tooth during immediate implant placement. Basically, a digital technique results in a precise transfer tooth emergence profile for provisional restoration in immediate implant placement so that an ideal periimplant soft tissue contour can be maintained. The architecture of extraction socket is obtained digitally before the surgery that allows for implant planning by position of the implant as well as the emergence profile of provisional restoration. The introduction of this approach provides a versatile, precise, and...

“Combination Syndrome” in an Upper/Lower Implant Overdenture Patient: A Clinical Report
An upper/lower overdenture case, which presented with clinical entities commonly associated with the combination syndrome, is described. To the author's knowledge, this is the first documented case to illustrate such a particular association. The patient presented with an upper overdenture on 4 individual implants with attachments, without palatal coverage, opposing a lower bar overdenture on 4 implants, delivered more than 10 years before presentation. The patient complained about esthetics (poor display of upper teeth, excessive showing of lower teeth, and occlusal plane cant) and chewing. The anterior maxilla had severe...
