Health care provider communication training in rural Tanzania empowers HIV ‐infected patients on antiretroviral therapy to discuss adherence problems
ConclusionsPatient‐centred communication can successfully be implemented with a simple intervention in rural Africa. It increases the likelihood of HIV‐infected patients reporting problems with adherence to ART; however, sustainability remains a challenge. (Source: HIV Medicine)

Respiratory health status is impaired in UK HIV ‐positive adults with virologically suppressed HIV infection
ConclusionsDespite effective ART, impaired respiratory health appears more common in HIV‐positive adults, and has a significant impact on health‐related quality of life. (Source: HIV Medicine)

The association between physical activity and cognition in men with and without HIV infection
ConclusionsA protective effect of high PA on impairment in neurocognitive domains was observed cross‐sectionally. Longitudinal PA measurements are needed to elucidate the PA–neurocognitive function relationship over time. (Source: HIV Medicine)

Does efavirenz replacement improve neurological function in treated HIV infection?
ConclusionsThis is the first study to assess the effects of chronic EFV therapy on neurological function in a controlled setting. We conclude that EFV withdrawal is unlikely to result in significant modification of neurocognitive function in otherwise stable HIV‐infected people. (Source: HIV Medicine)

Ethnicity predicts viral rebound after travel to the tropics in HIV ‐infected travelers to the tropics in the Swiss HIV Cohort Study
ConclusionsRegion of origin is the main risk factor for viral rebound rather than travel per se. Pre‐travel adherence counselling should focus on patients of SSA origin. (Source: HIV Medicine)

Prevalence of and factors associated with unprotected anal intercourse with regular and nonregular male sexual partners among newly diagnosed HIV ‐positive men who have sex with men in China
ConclusionsInterventions are warranted, and should be designed with consideration of multi‐dimensional factors and be partner type‐specific. (Source: HIV Medicine)

Liver ‐related mortality and hospitalizations attributable to chronic hepatitis C virus coinfection in persons living with HIV
ConclusionsChronic HCV infection increases the risk of liver‐related mortality and liver‐related hospitalizations in PLWH, despite good control of HIV infection. Sixty per cent of liver‐related mortality in chronically HCV‐coinfected PLWH could be attributable to chronic HCV infection. The effect of mass HCV eradication with new therapies should be evaluated. Human leucocyte antigen (HLA) ‐DQB1*03:02 and HLA‐A*02:01 have opposite patterns in their effects on susceptibility to HIV infection
ConclusionsOur data showed that the presence of the HLA class II allele DQB1*03:02 was a correlate of immune protection against HIV infection, while the presence of the HLA class I allele A*02:01 was associated with being infected with HIV. (Source: HIV Medicine)
