Prediction of violent crime on discharge from secure psychiatric hospitals: A clinical prediction rule (FoVOx)
This study seeks to develop scalable predictive models for violent offending following discharge from secure psychiatric hospitals. Methods We identified all patients discharged from secure hospitals in Sweden between January 1, 1992 and December 31, 2013. Using multiple Cox regression, pre-specified criminal, sociodemographic and clinical risk factors were included in a model that was tested for discrimination and calibration in the prediction of violent crime at 12 and 24 months post-discharge. Risk cut-offs were pre-specified at 5% (low vs. medium) and 20% (medium vs. high). Results We identified 2248 patients with 29...

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and physical multimorbidity: A population-based study
Conclusion Adults that screen positive for ADHD are at an increased risk for multimorbidity and several factors are important in this association. As many adults with ADHD remain undiagnosed, the results of this study highlight the importance of detecting adult ADHD as it may confer an increased risk for poorer health outcomes, including physical multimorbidity. Naturalistic follow-up of subjects affected with anorexia nervosa 8 years after multimodal treatment: Personality and psychopathology changes and predictors of outcome
Conclusion Multimodal treatment encompassing psychiatric, nutritional and psychological approaches is at the moment the most reliable approach for the treatment of moderate to severe anorexia nervosa with a discrete rate of improvement. Some personality and psychopathology characteristics may represent specific factors which favor resistance and impair improvement. Future approaches should consider the personalization of therapeutic approach according to these features. (Source: European Psychiatry)

Stress, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms and tobacco smoking: The i-Share study
Conclusions Stress and ADHD contribute independently to the risk of smoking. Interventions targeting each condition are likely to reduce the burden of tobacco use in students. (Source: European Psychiatry)

Cannabis use in early adolescence is associated with higher negative schizotypy in females
Publication date: Available online 1 August 2017 Source:European Psychiatry Author(s): L. Albertella, M.E. Le Pelley, J. Copeland The current study examined the relationship between early onset cannabis use (before age 16) and different schizotypy dimensions, and whether gender moderates these associations. Participants were 162 cannabis users, aged 15–24 years, who completed an online assessment examining alcohol and other drug use, psychological distress, and schizotypy. Participants were divided according to whether or not they had started using cannabis before the age of 16 (early onset=47; later onset=115) and ...
