MicroRNA ‐145 regulates disabled‐2 and Wnt3a expression in cardiomyocytes under hyperglycaemia
ConclusionsAng II downregulates miR‐145 to regulate Dab2 and Wnt3a/ß‐catenin expression in cardiomyocytes under high glucose concentration. Ang II plays a critical role in the regulation of miR‐145 in cardiomyocytes under hyperglycaemic conditions. (Source: European Journal of Clinical Investigation)

Cytokine responses, microbial aetiology and short ‐term outcome in community‐acquired pneumonia
ConclusionsIn this CAP cohort, admission levels of IL‐6, IL‐8 and MIP‐1β were associated with disease severity and/or adverse short‐term outcome. Still, for most mediators, only nonsignificant variations in inflammatory responses were observed for groups of microbial aetiology, disease severity and short‐term outcome. Decreased platelet inhibition by P2Y12 receptor blockers in anaemia
ConclusionAnaemia is associated with decreased platelet inhibition by ADP P2Y12 receptor antagonists after elective and acute percutaneous interventions with stent implantation. However, due to inconsistencies between different platelet function tests additional data are needed to clarify the role of anaemia for platelet inhibition. The level of physical training modulates cytokine levels through P2X7 receptor in healthy subjects
ConclusionEND show higher P2X7R‐Infl expression and function vs SED and ATH; however, maximal exercise determines prevailing pro‐inflammatory vs anti‐inflammatory responses in untrained and trained participants, respectively, highlighting a likely cause‐effect relationship between degree of physical activity and P2X7R‐Infl‐mediated responses. This article is protected by copyright. Evidence for increased chylomicron remnants in rheumatoid arthritis
ConclusionRA patients have higher levels of apo B48 compared to controls with high CVD risk and healthy controls, with normal levels of triglycerides. This accumulation of atherogenic chylomicron remnants may contribute to the elevated CVD risk in RA patients. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
