Person-centred care for patients with chronic heart failure - a cost-utility analysis
Conclusion: It must be emphasized, however, that these positive effects, both cheaper and somewhat better, were obtained only among those receiving the PCC intervention in its intended form, PCC(PP). (Source: European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Electrocardiogram interpretation skills among ambulance nurses
Conclusions: Ambulance nurses have deficiencies in their ECG interpretation skills. This also applies to conditions where the ambulance crew has great potential to improve the outcome of the patient’s health, such as myocardial infarction and cardiac arrest. Neither education, extensive experience in ambulance service nor in nursing contributed to an improved result. The only factor of importance for higher ECG interpretation knowledge was prior experience of working in a coronary care unit. (Source: European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Psychosocial factors associated with self-efficacy for managing chronic disease in patients with chronic heart failure
Conclusions: In Chinese patients with chronic heart failure, the prevalence of inadequate self-efficacy for managing chronic disease is high; general self-efficacy, depression and perceived social support are independent factors associated with self-efficacy for managing chronic disease. The screening of patients’ self-efficacy and the implementation of relevant interventions may be beneficial to the promotion of self-management. (Source: European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Cardiovascular disease predicts diabetic peripheral polyneuropathy in subjects with type 2 diabetes: A 10-year prospective study
Conclusions: In our series, type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with cardiovascular disease at baseline present with an increased risk of developing diabetic peripheral neuropathy at 10 years of follow-up. Our results suggest that measures aimed at the prevention, control and treatment of cardiovascular disease can also help prevent diabetic peripheral neuropathy development. Exploring the relationship between disease-related knowledge and health risk behaviours in young people with congenital heart disease
Conclusions: This study was the first to explore the relationship between disease-related knowledge and health risk behaviours in young people with CHD. Little evidence, however, was found to support this relationship. Additional studies are needed to evaluate the effectiveness of other strategies altering the health-compromising behaviours of these patients. (Source: European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Early education and counselling of patients with acute coronary syndrome. A pilot study for a randomized controlled trial
Conclusion: Early education seems to benefit patients with acute coronary syndrome. In light of increased confidence to control one’s symptoms and the higher attendance in rehabilitation programmes, as well as a high satisfaction with the intervention, a full powered study will be pursued. Carers needs in advanced heart failure: A systematic narrative review
Conclusions: Carer’s needs initiate when the patient is diagnosed and continue throughout the disease into bereavement. These needs are continuously prioritised and reprioritised depending on the patients’ medical stability. A holistic approach is needed to support these carers, incorporating heart failure and palliative care specialties. Further research is warranted to explore different methods of delivering support and information and to evaluate whether these reduce carer burden. Effect of a behavioral intervention of the SALdavel program to reduce salt intake among hypertensive women: A randomized controlled pilot study
Conclusion: The findings showed that this theory-based intervention was effective to motivate and change the behavior of hypertensive women regarding daily salt use in cooking meals. This was accomplished by means of improvements in intention and self-efficacy and reduction of the habit of using more than 4 g of salt/day during cooking.
