Study Examines NJ Bed Bug Infestations
Annapolis, MD; April 5, 2016 – In order to determine where bed bug outbreaks are occurring and the best way to prevent and control infestations, entomologists examined 2,372 apartments in New Jersey and looked at factors such as the age, race, and gender of the inhabitants. The results are published in the Journal of Medical Entomology.

Kristine Braman Named Head of UGA Entomology Dept
Dr. S. Kristine Braman has been named head of the Entomology Department at the University of Georgia. Dr. Braman joined the University of Georgia Entomology faculty in 1989 after earning degrees from the State University of New York (SUNY) in Forestry and the University of Kentucky. She has served as director of the Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture since 2011 and as interim assistant dean of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the UGA Griffin campus.

New Treehopper Genus Named after Selena Quintanilla
Annapolis, MD; March 31, 2016 – Insects known as treehoppers vary wildly in form, sporting many different shapes and colors.
Recently, Dr. Brendan O. Morris and Dr. Christopher H. Dietrich, of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, discovered a new treehopper genus (and its single species) that is found in Texas and northern Mexico, which they describe in an article in the Annals of the Entomological Society of America.

Moth Trap May Make Citizen Science More Affordable
