The protean manifestations of IgG4-RD in gastrointestinal disorders
Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a recently recognized fibroinflammatory condition characterized by a dense lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate rich in IgG4-positive plasma cells, extensive fibrosis with a characteristic “storiform” pattern, and usually, elevated serum IgG4 concentrations.1–4 As a systemic disease, IgG4-RD affects many organs and systems, including the pancreaticobiliary system, salivary glands, periorbital tissues, kidneys, lungs, lymph nodes, meninges, aorta, breasts, prostate, thyroid, pericardium, and skin.
