Frequency of crown and root dilaceration of permanent incisors after dental trauma to their predecessor teeth
ConclusionsDentists must be aware of the relationship between the child's age at the time of trauma to the predecessor tooth and the type of sequel to the successor tooth in order to diagnose, monitor, and treat the sequel properly. (Source: Dental Traumatology)

Influence of custom ‐made and stock mouthguard thickness on biomechanical response to a simulated impact
ConclusionsIn extreme situations when it is impossible to use a MG, keeping the teeth in maximum intercuspal position is less harmful. Despite this, the use of any MG is beneficial and assists in dampening the generated stress. The thicker the device, the greater the capacity for decreasing the damage in all structures. The use of individual protectors for each patient is even more beneficial for preventing trauma during at ‐risk activities of impact. (Source: Dental Traumatology)

Effect of mouthguard design on retention and potential issues arising with usability in sport
ConclusionsDesign and thickness of mouthguards are key factors in retention. Mouthguard fabrication techniques should be considered in order to minimize dislodgment of the devices as well as potentially increasing the wearability of mouthguards during sport. (Source: Dental Traumatology)

Unusual sequelae of a subluxated primary incisor on its permanent successor tooth
AbstractTraumatic dental injuries (TDIs) such as subluxations of primary teeth can have significant consequences on their developing successors. The purpose of this report is to present a 3 ‐year‐old boy who encountered subluxation injuries to his primary incisors which subsequently had an unusual consequence on the permanent successor. On the day of the TDI, based on clinical and radiographic examinations, a diagnosis of subluxation of teeth 52, 51 and 61 was made. By age 5, the p atient reported that tooth 51 had exfoliated, and consequently, tooth 11 had erupted into the oral cavity, but it was very loose. Eventuall...

Thermoforming method to effectively maintain mouthguard thickness: Effect of moving the model position just before vacuum formation
ConclusionThe forming method of moving the model forward just before vacuum formation was effective for suppressing the mouthguard thickness reduction, which is capable of securing the labial thickness at 3  mm or more with a single layer. (Source: Dental Traumatology)

Long ‐term retention of avulsed maxillary permanent incisors replanted after prolonged non‐physiological storage
AbstractAnkylosis and external replacement resorption (ERR) are two typical biological responses to delayed replantation of avulsed teeth in cases where adequate root canal treatment is performed. The patient's growth stage affects the progression of root resorption and the long ‐term outcome of the affected teeth. This case report describes the long‐term outcome of an 18.5‐year‐old patient following an accident in which both of his maxillary central incisors were avulsed and replanted after four hours of non‐physiological storage. ERR and ankylosis of teeth 11 an d 21 were detected clinically and radiographicall...

Validation and usability of a mobile phone application for epidemiological surveillance of traumatic dental injuries
ConclusionsThis preliminary evaluation confirmed the App's usability, using a sample of potential users, as well as reporting on the results of an expert panel review of the DTT. These are the minimum requirements necessary before further expansion and widespread implementation occurs to confirm these results. (Source: Dental Traumatology)
