Fidelity of motivational interviewing in an American Indian oral health intervention
ConclusionsIndividual interventionists' scores for the MITI global ratings and behaviour counts reflected variation in competence and ranged from below beginner to expert levels. A higher competence level of the interventionist as assessed by the fidelity study was not related to better study outcomes. (Source: Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology)

Anxiety and anger of homeless people coping with dental care
ConclusionsHomeless people have difficulty coping with dental care. They believe that dentistry is frightening, humiliating and expensive, and governments are neither sympathetic to their disability nor willing to provide helpful information about community dental clinics or sufficient dental benefits for their needs. Identification of caries risk in 2 ‐year‐olds
ConclusionsA small proportion of 2‐year‐olds had caries, but these children had several decayed teeth. Substantial differences in oral health and oral health behaviour were found between Western and non‐Western children. The preventive care delivered to the studied children failed to prevent caries increment from 2 to 5 years of age. (Source: Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology)

Pharmacological behaviour support for adults with intellectual disabilities: Frequency and predictors in a national cross ‐sectional survey
ConclusionsPeople with ID report a diverse range of support use, with many using GA or CS, particularly oral sedation, for dental treatment. This highlights a need for training and governance for dentists who provide this care. Patients who present with challenging behaviour, oral problems and, interestingly, difficulty with expressive communication are more likely to report use of pharmacological supports. The above has implications for dental service design and delivery for this population. (Source: Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology)

WHO Global Consultation on Public Health Intervention against Early Childhood Caries
Abstract Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is prevalent around the world, but in particular the disease is growing rapidly in low‐ and middle‐income countries in parallel with changing diet and lifestyles.
