The value of a combined word recognition and knowledge measure to understand characteristics of our patients ’ oral health literacy
ConclusionThe analysis confirmed that pronunciation of medical and dental terms may not fully reflect comprehension and revealed that understanding both patients’ sociodemographic and dental understanding and utilization factors, such as transportation to the dental office associated with lower oral HL and knowledge, could help the profession develop appropriate clear language programmes to improve access to dental care for vulnerable populations. Oral Health Programmes in Indigenous Communities Worldwide —Lessons learned from the field: A qualitative systematic review
ConclusionsSuccessful programmes considered cultural appropriateness in their design—including extensive community engagement before, during and after implementation to enhance ownership of, and thus participation in the programme. Collaborative approaches were seen as an advantage, not only with Indigenous communities, but also with local health providers and organizations, with particular emphasis on incorporation into existing services. The association of subjective orthodontic treatment need with oral health ‐related quality of life

Clinical instruments and methods for assessing physical oral health: A systematic review
ConclusionEven though some instruments and methods exhibited good to excellent reliability and validity and can be recommended for research and clinical practice, they do not allow assessing all components of physical oral health. There is a need to identify and define standard instruments, and for components of physical oral health where methods with sufficient diagnostic performance are lacking, further research is required. The interpersonal work of dental conscious sedation: A qualitative analysis
