Innovations in Practice: evaluating clinical outcome and service utilization in an AMBIT ‐trained Tier 4 child and adolescent mental health service
ConclusionsOur AMBIT‐trained Tier 4 CAMH service demonstrates change over the course of intervention consistent with the service model's theoretical expectations. Engagement with the service may be associated more with factors related to social circumstance and functioning than with key symptoms and distress. Less well‐engaged young people utilize increased service resource. AMBIT's mentalizing focus may improve service provision for young people who are poorly engaged with mental health services. Clinical characteristics of adolescents referred for treatment of depressive disorders
ConclusionsThese data have direct relevance to the design and delivery of public mental health services for children and adolescents. However, we do not know how representative this sample is of other clinical populations in the UK or in other countries. There is a need to collect routine data from other services to assess the needs of this group of high‐risk adolescents. (Source: Child and Adolescent Mental Health)

Frequency of occurrence of specific reading disorder and associated psychiatric comorbidity in a sample of Egyptian primary school students
ConclusionDyslexia was prevalent in fourth and fifth graders. A meaningful presence of ADHD, anxiety, and depressed mood was detected in students. There is a need for better screening and awareness for early intervention and service provision. The cross‐sectional design, lack of collateral information, and records precluded inference of casualty. The lack of rural comparator and samples from other governorates limit generalization of results. (Source: Child and Adolescent Mental Health)

Innovations in Practice: The relationship between sleep disturbances, depression, and interpersonal functioning in treatment for adolescent depression
ConclusionsFor all patients in the study, sleep disturbance was a predictor of depression and interpersonal functioning for depressed adolescents. Sleep disturbance predicted more depression and interpersonal stress across treatments and led to a slower improvement in depression and interpersonal functioning. These data suggest that sleep disturbance should be a target for future treatment development research among depressed adolescents. (Source: Child and Adolescent Mental Health)

Is emotional lability a marker for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety and aggression symptoms in preschoolers?
ConclusionsEmotional lability seems to be a potential marker for ADHD symptoms with internalizing problems in preschoolers and could be a target for diagnosis and early interventions. This finding should be treated with caution as the study was limited by the low response rate of the participants and consequently the small sample size. (Source: Child and Adolescent Mental Health)
