Place of death in the Snowy Monaro region of New South Wales: A study of residents who died of a condition amenable to palliative care
ConclusionMost rural residents with conditions amenable to palliative care died in the region. Most did not die in their UPoR. Further qualitative work is needed to determine palliative care patients’ and family caregivers’ preferences for, and the importance placed on, place of death. While there may be a need to support an increase in home deaths, local rural hospitals and residential aged‐care facilities must not be overlooked as a substitute for inpatient hospices. Addressing the needs of first ‐time fathers in Tasmania: A qualitative study of father‐only antenatal groups
ConclusionTasmanian antenatal education/support programs need improvement. Providing men with multiple opportunities to connect with other fathers is critical to improving support. Groups can be improved by accounting for multiple and complex constructions of masculinity, increasing the number of sessions offered and altering the structure. Urban –rural differences in health literacy and its determinants in Iran: A community‐based study

Effect of secondary penicillin prophylaxis on valvular changes in patients with rheumatic heart disease in Far North Queensland
ConclusionsThis small study of patients in Townsville suggests that with good SPP compliance there is regression of some cardiac lesions over time in people with RHD. Furthermore the natural history of ARF in the Indigenous population is progressive requiring strict adherence to SPP. Prospective studies or use of data from the nationwide RHD register and standardised reporting of cardiac echocardiograms will provide more robust evidence. Food provision among food relief agencies in rural Australia, and perceived barriers and enablers to provide healthy food
ConclusionThere are many variables to consider in order to understand the capacity of rural food relief agencies to provide healthy food. There are also opportunities for food relief agencies to appraise current practices and make changes. Initiatives to improve storage facilities and food availability are key and include networking with local businesses, community organisations and government. Rural food relief agency clients could benefit from accessing food literacy and health programs like FoodREDi, OzHarvest NEST and SecondBite Fresh NED. (Source: Australian Journal of Rural Health)

The challenge of generalist care in remote Australia: Beyond aeromedical retrieval
ConclusionMost frequent evacuees had several chronic conditions, multiple primary care providers, did not have a general practice management plan and had infrequent clinic reviews. This evidence highlights the challenge of remote primary care and the need to improve systems of chronic disease management. It underlines the importance of current local efforts to improve electronic records, follow‐up and team care and to explore further telehealth implementation.
