Nocturnal sleep architecture is altered by sleep bruxism
A normal night sleep is defined as a vital physiological process (Harrington& Lee-Chiong, 2009). It is also described as a transient reversible state (the person can be awakened) (Gemignani et al., 2015) with the purpose to restore the sensory perception and the neuromuscular function, and to regulate the hormonal rhythms (Consensus Conference Panel et al., 2015). Sleep has a complex architecture divided into stages. Each has unique characteristics, including physiological variations and a structure that regulates the sleep-awake cycle with the circadian rhythm (Yoshida, Shinohara,& Kodama, 2015). Putative periodontal pathogens in the subgingival plaque of Sudanese subjects with aggressive periodontitis
The term aggressive periodontitis (AgP) was introduced by the International Workshop for the Classification of Periodontal Diseases and Conditions (Armitage, 1999). It is a relatively uncommon condition where there is rapid loss of periodontal tissue including alveolar bone, and can present in localised or generalised forms. The disease tends to occur in adolescents or young adults who do not display the classically defined periodontal risk factors, and there is usually a familial tendency suggesting a certain genetic susceptibility to the disease. Hydrogen peroxide induces cell proliferation and apoptosis in pulp of rats after dental bleaching in vivo
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is widely used in different concentrations as a bleaching agent. It acts through the releasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) that provides the change in the hardness of the enamel (Azer, Machado, Sanchez,& Rashid, 2009), and in the chemical composition of enamel and dentin (Bistey, Nagy, Simo,& Hegedus, 2007). It has the ability to reach the pulp through the dentinal tubules causing decreased cellularity and cellular metabolism (Cintra et al., 2013; Min et al., 2008; Seale, McIntosh,& Taylor, 1981; Soares, Basso, Scheffel, Hebling,& de Souza Costa, 2015), changes in vascular permeability (Ferreira ...
