The association between long working hours and hearing impairment in noise unexposed workers: data from the 5th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES 2010 –2012)
ConclusionsThe association between long working hours and hearing impairment in both low and high frequencies was significant in Korean female workers with a dose-response relationship. Air pollution and urinary n-acetyl-B-glucosaminidase levels in residents living near a cement plant
ConclusionsU-NAG levels seem to be affected by air pollution exposure as well as age, hypertension, diabetes, and even low levels of cadmium and low levels of mercury. Comparisons of hearing threshold changes in male workers with unilateral conductive hearing loss exposed to workplace noise: a retrospective cohort study for 8  years
ConclusionsAt high-frequencies, particularly at 4  kHz, the range of hearing threshold changes was lower in ears with conductive hearing loss than in contralateral ears. This is suggested as a protective effect against noise exposure. (Source: Annals of Occupational and Environmental Medicine)

Night shift work and inflammatory markers in male workers aged 20 –39 in a display manufacturing company
ConclusionsA significant association between shift work and increases in inflammatory markers was confirmed. Because chronic low-grade inflammation plays an important role in the development of cardiovascular diseases, regular follow-up of inflammatory markers as a marker of cardiovascular diseases in shift workers may serve as an early indicator in predicting the effects of shift work on health. The association of relational and organizational job stress factors with sleep disorder: analysis of the 3rd Korean working conditions survey (2011)
ConclusionA number of studies have reported that stress affects sleep disorder. In this study, many factors suspected to increase the risk of sleep disorder were added to previously known job stress factors. In particular, this study found a strong correlation between work-associated sleep disorder and relational and organizational job stress factors. Sleep disorder may lead to large decreases in workers ’ quality of life and work efficiency. Awareness and interventions are therefore required to reduce workplace stress; additional research of this topic is also required. (Source: Annals of Occupational and Environmental Medicine)

Effects of computer familiarity and computer type on the performance of Korean computerized neurobehavioral test
ConclusionsUnlike previous study results, the choice reaction time, the addition, and the finger tapping speed of dominant hand were the only parameters affected by the computer familiarity. Both the type of keyboard and the type of computer significantly influenced the simple reaction time and the choice reaction time. Therefore, it is recommended to use a desktop computer with a simplified keyboard for such parameters. (Source: Annals of Occupational and Environmental Medicine)
