March 14, 2018, was the one-month anniversary of the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. I was, therefore, extremely disappointed to read “What to Know About Firearm Suppressors and Hearing Loss” (March 2018). (Source: The ASHA Leader Online)

Firearms and Hearing Loss
I have to admit that it was with some trepidation that I began readingMichael Stewart ’s article concerning firearms and hearing loss (March 2018). I was pleasantly surprised to find the article to be dispassionate and apolitical. Michael Stewart credits the audiology profession by demonstrating that professionalism and concern for client welfare can supersede the temptation to politicize an issue. The ASHA Leader editorial team also deserves credit for publishing the article. (Source: The ASHA Leader Online)
