Cytomorphologic Findings of Low-Grade Fibromyxoid Sarcoma
ConclusionThe presence of bland spindle cells and associated with myxoid matrix material, in the appropriate clinical setting, can suggest LGFMS and direct additional confirmatory testing. A definitive diagnosis of LGFMS on FNA requires adequate sampling, familiarity with key cytomorphologic features, acquisition of diagnostic material for a cell block preparation and ancillary testing, and clinicoradiologic correlation. Insulinoma-associated protein 1 (INSM-1) Expression in Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma FNA: A Multi-Institutional Study
ConclusionINSM-1 nuclear positivity is a reliable marker of MTC neuroendocrine differentiation on cytology material from both primary tumor and metastases. INSM-1 can also discriminate MTC from other primary and secondary thyroid carcinomas when there are cytomorphologic overlaps. (Source: Journal of the American Society of Cytopathology)

Evaluation of the Clinical Utility of Reflex GMS and AFB stains on BAL specimens from Lung Transplant Patients
ConclusionsWe show that staining for AFB on BAL material in lung transplant patients had limited benefit when concurrent microbiology was performed. GMS staining shows a small benefit. We recommend reflex testing for fungal organisms but not mycobacterial organisms in lung transplant patients. (Source: Journal of the American Society of Cytopathology)

Threshold for interpretation of p16 immunostaining in fine needle aspirate specimens of metastatic oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma
Conclusion– We recommend that even minimal nuclear expression for p16 in viable tumor fragments must be considered as positive in cytology specimens. Expression limited to only background single tumor cells or in a necrotic specimen must be interpreted with caution. (Source: Journal of the American Society of Cytopathology)
