Bear Paw Sign: Xanthogranulomatous Pyelonephritis
Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis is a rare form of chronic pyelonephritis in which the involved areas of the kidneys are destroyed and replaced by foam cells. It usually occurs in immunocompromised middle-aged females with ureteral obstruction or chronic urinary tract infection induced by the formation of renal stones. We herein report the case of a 44-year-old woman, with a history of left kidney staghorn calculi and recurrent urinary tract infections. Abdominal computed tomography showed the ' bear paw ' sign, typical appearance of XGP and patient underwent a nephrectomy with uneventful post-operative course. (Source: ...

Melorheostosis of The Leg: A Case Report
We report the case of a 28-year-old male who presented to an orthopedic clinic with a chronic history of right leg pain. Radiological evaluation using X-ray, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging showed features consistent with that of melorheostosis. Recognition of this entity by clinicians can avoid unnecessary investigations and biopsy. (Source: Journal of Radiology Case Reports)

Extradural cervical spinal meningioma mimicking malignancy
We report an invasive extradural meningioma in the cervical spine with multi-segmental involvement, extension through the neural foramina and encasement of the subjacent vertebral artery, mimicking malignancies such as lymphoma and sarcoma. Although rare, meningiomas may demonstrate extradural multi-segmental growth and should be considered in the differential diagnosis of such lesions. (Source: Journal of Radiology Case Reports)

Annular Pancreas in an Adult Presenting with Acute Pancreatitis
Annular pancreas is a rare congenital condition in which tissue from the head of the pancreas partially or completely surrounds the second part of the duodenum.   This condition has a variable clinical presentation in adults and children.  Radiologists should be aware of the imaging findings in adults as an annular pancreas can be overlooked or misdiagnosed in this patient population.  In this case report we describe an adult patient with pancreatitis as sociated with the computed tomography findings of a complete annular pancreas and discuss additional imaging techniques and findings for differential diagnoses of this ...

Abdominal CT Scan Findings of Decompression Sickness: A Case Report
This case report depicts the radiologic findings of a 51-year-old male presenting with Decompression Sickness. Decompression Sickness is diagnosed clinically, therefore radiologic imaging of this disease entity is limited. Our patient ' s history includes a scuba dive to depth of 110 feet with a descending time of 24 minutes and an ascending time of 8 minutes. The patient subsequently presented to the Emergency Room with symptoms of shortness of breath and abdominal pain. The abdominal pain prompted physicians to explore further, and hence computed tomography (CT) imaging of the abdomen and pelvis was performed. This case ...

Ruptured Berry Aneurysm as the initial presentation of Polycystic Kidney Disease: A case report and review of literature
Intra-cranial saccular aneurysms, also known as Berry aneurysms, have a well-known association with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). Aneurysmal rupture can be the initial presentation of the disease. ADPKD has two types of gene mutations: PKD1 and PKD2.The latter one is of a milder form presenting later in life. Imaging plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and assessment in order to provide adequate management of these patients however, there are no official standardized guidelines established for screening of these intracranial aneurysms. Isolated IgG4-related gastric disease presenting as diffuse gastric wall thickening with ulcer
An 81-year-old male presented with loss of appetite, early satiety and iron deficiency anaemia. A computed tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen and pelvis during initial work-up revealed diffuse gastric mural thickening associated with a large ulcer and adjacent gastro-hepatic lymphadenopathy. The CT appearances, together with the clinical features, were highly suspicious for an infiltrative type of gastric malignancy. Endoscopic biopsy however showed erosive inflammation, IgG4 plasmacytosis and fibrosis, raising the possibility of IgG4-related disease. A serologic assay for IgG showed normal IgG4 and elevated IgG2 serum le...

The Tunnel Sign Revisited: A Novel Observation of Cerebral Melioidosis Mimicking Sparganosis
We present a case of a 55-year-old gentleman found to have cerebral melioidosis and with initial imaging mimicking the appearance of sparganosis. This suggests that the tunnel sign in brain abscesses may be specific for infection by Burkholderia Pseudomallei, Spirometra Mansoni or Listeria Monocytogenes. Isolated delayed metastasis to the talus from Ewing's sarcoma
We describe the imaging findings on MRI, CT scan and PET-CT. To our knowledge, talar metastasis from Ewing ' s sarcoma has been previously reported only twice in the English literature. Noteworthy is the fact that one of the previously reported lesions was considered a skip metastasis, and the other was under-described in terms of primary and secondary tumor location and time to metastasis. In addition, the overall imaging findings were rather suggestive of a benign lesion, particularly on CT scan. (Source: Journal of Radiology Case Reports)

Aneurysmal bone cyst of the frontal bone - A radiologic-pathologic correlation
We present a case of 27-year-old female who presented for a progressive frontal swelling with ipsilateral headache. Subsequent CT scan revealed an extradural and expansile multiloculated mass with thin and strongly enhanced septations and MRI evaluation showed internal hyperintensity on T2 with no restriction of diffusion and confirmed the multiple cystic spaces with enhancing septations and rare hemorrhagic fluid-fluid levels. Surgery was performed and diagnosis of aneurysmal bone cyst was made on frozen section. Identification of USP6 fusion gene by in situ hybridization technique permitted to confirm the diagnosis of pr...
