Observations from a FIGO Past President on vaginal hysterectomy and related surgery by the vaginal route
Data from evidence-based studies and reviews have clearly demonstrated that the best surgical approach for performing hysterectomy is via the vaginal route [1]. In the present article, the author presents observations based on his original contributions on vaginal hysterectomy and related aspects. The aim of the article is to provide useful information to colleagues who wish to learn more about vaginal surgery, including how to utilize the least invasive techniques, their advantages, and how best to avoid adverse outcomes.
