Hydatid cyst of liver: A case with an unusual clinical presentation
We report here a case of 32 years old young lady who clinically presented with acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma of recent onset. Her chest x-ray was unremarkable except slightly pushed up diaphragm on right side. Ultrasonography of abdomen revealed a cyst in the right lobe of liver, suggestive of hydatid cyst. Following confirmation of diagnosis by computed tomography (CT)-guided Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) surgical resection of the cystic lesion was done. Validity of simple, novel measures of generalized and central obesity among young Asian Indian women
Conclusion: FMI was a better predictor of generalized obesity compared to BMI and BF%. Considering abdominal obesity as an independent risk factor for insulin resistance, both WC and WC/ht ratio were able to predict central obesity better than WHR. Chondrosarcoma of the bone with nodal metastasis: The first case report with review of literature
We describe a case of primary chondrosarcoma of proximal humerus with axillary nodal metastasis. The patient underwent a forequarter amputation with axillary nodal clearance. The histopathological examination revealed metastasis of chondrosarcoma in lymph nodes. We also have reviewed the related literature and discussed the possible mechanism of this nodal metastasis. Acinetobacter baumannii: No more a choosy intruder?
Conclusions: In this tertiary care institution of ours, A. baumannii isolates have shown a high frequency of drug resistance, with imipenem being the best sensitive drug. Emergence and control of multidrug resistant organisms in small cities in India: A wake up call
Conclusions: Only with the combined efforts of the local laboratories and clinicians, the looming threat of the pandrug resistant organisms in small cities can be avoided.
