Decline in the Acute Insulin Response in Relationship to Plasma Glucose Concentrations
ConclusionsWith worsening insulin action, the decline in insulin secretion occurred prior to current diagnostic guidelines for impaired glucose regulation. However, the relationship between AIR and increasing PG varies, and was not always non‐linear. Understanding the dynamics of this relationship may determine when to initiate preventive pharmacotherapy directed at the preservation of β‐cell failure. Coronary artery bypass grafting versus percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with non ‐insulin treated type 2 diabetes mellitus: a meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials
ConclusionsIn NITDM patients, our study suggests that CABG surgery is associated with reduced risk of mortality and morbidity, though with increased incidence of stroke compared with PCI. The decision if to have PCI or CABG surgery should factor the risk for stroke of the patients when considering CABG over PCI. Adequately‐powered randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm the results of this meta‐analysis. (Source: Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews)

Association of change in waist circumference and dyslipidemia risk: The Rural Chinese Cohort Study
ConclusionsDynamic change in WC was closely related to the incidence of dyslipidemia in a rural Chinese population. WC reduction could decrease dyslipidemia risk, whereas WC increase may increase the risk. Interventions to control or reduce WC to within the normal range are important for early prevention of dyslipidemia. (Source: Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews)

High genetic risk scores for impaired insulin secretory capacity doubles the risk for type 2 diabetes in Asians and is exacerbated by Western ‐type diets
ConclusionSeventy‐two percent of the Korean population had either medium or high genetic risk scores for impaired insulin secretion, which approximately doubled their risk of type 2 diabetes, and the risk was exacerbated by consuming a low carbohydrate Western‐style diets. Recent Findings on Fulminant Type 1 Diabetes
Abstract Fulminant type 1 diabetes (fT1D) is a new subtype of type 1 diabetes proposed by Imagawa in 2000. It is a clinical syndrome characterized by a markedly rapid and almost complete destruction of pancreatic β cells. Metabolic derangement is more severe in this subtype than in autoimmune type 1 diabetes. The incidence of fT1D is associated with HLA DRB1*04:05DQB1*04:01, both innate and acquired immune disorders might contribute to the development of fT1D. The presence of specific innate immune responses to enterovirus infection connected with enhanced adoptive immune pathways responsible for aggressive β cell toxici...

The association between dysregulated adipocytokines in early pregnancy and development of Gestational Diabetes
ConclusionsDecreased HMW adiponectin and omentin‐1 and increased IL‐6 may enhance sensitivity of early risk prediction tools for women at high risk of GDM. This may allow early identification and opportunities for prevention of GDM and adverse outcomes. Further research is required in large validation studies to confirm these results. Autoantibodies Against PFDN2 Are Associated With An Increased Risk of Type 2 Diabetes: A Case ‐Control Study
