The beneficial effects of probiotic administration on wound healing and metabolic status in patients with diabetic foot ulcer: A randomized, double ‐blind, placebo‐controlled trial
ConclusionsOverall, probiotic supplementation for 12 weeks among subjects with diabetic foot ulcer had beneficial effects on ulcer size, glycaemic control, total cholesterol, high‐sensitivity C‐reactive protein, plasma nitric oxide, total antioxidant capacity, and malondialdehyde levels. Predicting persistent impaired glucose tolerance in patients with gestational diabetes: The role of high sensitivity CRP and adiponectin
ConclusionsMidpregnancy high sensitivity CRP is a potential predictor of persistent impaired glucose tolerance diagnosed on the postpartum 2‐hour 75‐g oral glucose tolerance test in GDM women in the immediate postpartum period. Further investigation is needed in a larger population of women prior to using specific cut‐offs for diagnostic purposes. High‐sensitivity C‐reactive protein levels in the immediate postpartum period should be seen as an adjunct, not a replacement, for the standard long‐term screening of women with a history of a GDM pregnancy. Early onset type 2 diabetes: Age gradient in Clinical and Behavioural Risk Factors in 5115 Persons with Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes ‐ Results from the DD2 study
ConclusionsWe found a clear age‐gradient, with increasing prevalence of clinical and behavioural risk factors the younger the onset age of type 2 DM. Younger persons with early‐onset type 2 DM need clinical awareness and support. (Source: Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews)
