Child Sexual Abuse and Its Relationship With Health Risk Behaviors Among Adolescents and Young Adults in Taipei
This study explores the association of child sexual abuse (CSA) with subsequent health risk behaviors among a cross-section of 4354 adolescents and young adults surveyed in urban and rural Taipei. Descriptive analysis and logistic regressions were employed. The overall proportion of CSA was 5.15%, with more females (6.14%) than males (4.16%) likely to experience CSA. Accuracy and Use of WHO Hemoglobin Color Scale for Diagnosis of Anemia Among Pregnant Women by Health Care Providers in Periurban Settings in Karachi, Pakistan
The study assessed the diagnostic accuracy of the Hemoglobin Color Scale (HCS), comparing clinical signs assessment technique (CSAT) of health care providers against the gold standard of laboratory hemoglobinometry. A cross-sectional validation study was conducted among 194 pregnant women located in 2 towns of periurban settings in Karachi, from June 2012 to February 2013. Return for Postpartum Oral Glucose Tolerance Test Following Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
A cross-sectional study was conducted to assess the prevalence and characteristics of women who received a postpartum oral glucose tolerance test and to examine barriers as reported by women who failed to return for the test. Data were collected using a mobile phone–based short messaging service. Only 352 (81.9%) women returned for the test. Prevalence of and Risk Factors for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Vietnam: A Systematic Review
This systematic review examined trends in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and identified its risk factors among adults in Vietnam. PubMed, Web of Science, Wiley Online Library, and Scopus databases were searched to identify relevant literature. The search yielded 10 studies, including 2 national surveys and 8 regional investigations. National prevalence estimates of T2DM were 2.7% in 2002 and 5.4% in 2012. Descriptive Epidemiology of Unintentional Burn Injuries Admitted to a Tertiary-Level Government Hospital in Nepal: Gender-Specific Patterns
This study describes the epidemiology of unintentional adult burn injury admissions in a tertiary hospital in Nepal, from 2002 to 2013, focusing on gender-specific patterns. Chi-square tests and Wilcoxon Rank Sum tests were performed. There were 819 unintentional burn admissions: 52% were male and 58% younger than 35 years. This study compares the results of the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (Self-Reported; KNHANEs [SR]) survey with urine-cotinine concentration (UCC) and the official index issued by the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBS).
