Systematic review of p38 mitogen ‐activated kinase and its functional role in reproductive tissues
We conducted a systematic review of literature on p38 MAPK expression, activation, and function in reproductive tissues throughout pregnancy and parturition, published between January 1980 ‐August 2017. We identified studies for p38 MAPK based on species (inner circle), tissues (next to inner circle), cell types (outer circles), and number of articles (outer circle). AbstractOxidative stress (OS) plays a role in uterine tissue remodeling during pregnancy and parturition. While p38 MAPK is an OS ‐response kinase, a precise functional role is unknown. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review of literature on p38 MAPK ...

Expression and regulation of metallothioneins in myometrium and fetal membranes
ConclusionTemporal ‐, labor‐, and infection‐associated increases in MT1 isoforms, MT2A, and MT3 have been observed in fetal membranes and/or myometrium. Furthermore, pro‐inflammatory cytokines and bacterial and viral products increased the expression of MT1 isoforms, MT2A, MT3, and MT4 mRNA expression in fetal membranes and myometrium.
