Predicting tubal factor infertility by using markers of humoral and cell ‐mediated immune response against Chlamydia trachomatis
ConclusionThe accuracy of TFI prediction increases when the combination ofC trachomatis MOMP and cHSP60 antibody tests is used.C trachomatis‐induced CMI was common in our study population, but the markers of CMI did not predict TFI. (Source: American Journal of Reproductive Immunology)

Human leukocyte antigen DQ2/DQ8 positivity in women with history of stillbirth
ConclusionIn women with history of term stillbirth, a significantly higher prevalence of HLA DQ2/DQ8 haplotypes has been found compared to women with previous uneventful pregnancies. In addition, HLA DQ2/DQ8 positivity was significantly associated with suboptimal fetal growth in intrauterine fetal death cases, as shown by an increased prevalence of SGA babies. Decidualization modulates a signal transduction system via protease ‐activated receptor‐1 in endometrial stromal cells
ConclusionOur results suggest that cell function is changed by decidualization in association with increasing PAR ‐1 expression. The upregulation of PAR‐1 may have some influence on pregnancy in the decidua. (Source: American Journal of Reproductive Immunology)

Upregulation and release of soluble fms ‐like tyrosine kinase receptor 1 mediated by complement activation in human syncytiotrophoblast cells
ConclusionComplement activation plays a major role in both the expression and secretion of sFLT1 from syncytial trophoblast cells. The terminal MAC complex is involved in its secretion. Increased levels of sFLT1 in pre ‐eclampsia patients may be due to complement‐induced upregulation and secretion. (Source: American Journal of Reproductive Immunology)

Autophagy gene ATG5 knockdown upregulates apoptotic cell death during Candida albicans infection in human vaginal epithelial cells
ConclusionVaginal epithelial cells with active autophagy were able to survive the damage caused byC.  albicans infection, whereas those with defective autophagy succumbed to the infection. This suggests that autophagy plays a critical role in human VECs survival duringC.  albicans infection. (Source: American Journal of Reproductive Immunology)

Decidual leucocytes infiltrating human spiral arterioles are rich source of matrix metalloproteinases and degrade extracellular matrix in vitro and in situ
ConclusionWe suggest that matrix remodelling in SpA is initiated by infiltrating leucocytes, while EVTs become involved at later stages. (Source: American Journal of Reproductive Immunology)
