coughing up blood at gym
So last thursday I was working out at my gym. I usually do 2x a day. Cardio and weight training. I fell in love with it. I was doing leg lifts and I noticed a wheeze that was really watery. I knew what was coming because it happened 4 years ago. Blood! I coughed it out and it was all over my hand. (I hope nobody saw) but I nonchalantly walked to bathroom trying not to panic. It went on for about 5 minutes and I left, I continued to go to the e.r to just get checked out. Everything was fine. Doctor started an extension on bactrim (which I was already taking), then 60mg prednisone, azithomyocin, vit k, etc haven't coughed up...

Heart rate w/exercise? Plz help
I am 15, and I'll admit, not in the best shape. I joined a gym and got a personal trainer session free. He did a heart rate test as part of the fitness examination. When he showed me his chart afterwards, he explained that my heart rate was slightly over 200, that was about 30 more than the worst "very poor" section (the lowest his chart went). Should I be concerned about this? I received warnings from the elliptical saying my heart rate was too high as well. Can this be CF related? Also, I sweat a lot when I exercise, even when it's not very strenuous. So if anyone could give me some advice or information that w...

CF bodybuilder James Boudreau
Marc Lobliner is a pro bodybuilder that has a youtube channel and is one of many training channels that I'm subscribed to. To my surprise he mentions from time to time that his young daughter has a friend with CF and so once in a while he does something for CF. Lately too apparently he's been training a CF'er. James Boudreau, to compete in bodybuilding. That's a huge achievement and the guy is huge himself! James are you reading this? Please tell us more yourself! :) Great motivation. Here's the video's from Marc's channel that he posted this week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrprnHGG9yU https://www.youtube.com...

How to keep salt out of your eyes?
My husband has cystic fibrosis. Whenever he spends the day outside in the warmer months, or even in the colder months if he is active, he ends up with red irritated eyes for days from the salt dripping in his eyes all day. This makes him not want to spend so much time doing stuff together as a family or exercising because he knows it will make his eyes burn. Is there anything you have been able to find to help with this problem? It makes him just want to hide in the house all Summer when I'd really rather we could be out doing things as a family. (We have 3 small children.) (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Exercise and Fitness Forum)

Positivity
Hi everyone! I am relatively new to this forum, and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Meg and I am a young-20s CFer with DDF508. I started a blog on positivity and CF, including topics on exercise, eating well, and mental wellness, and other fun topics. The Facebook page for CF has gotten very depressing & negative, and I think we need some light on the topic. It was actually quite difficult for me to start this blog--CF is not my most open topic, since I consider it only a small part of who I am. However, with all the negativity on this topic, I think we need some positivity on the subject--what do you think? I...

Question about health and body fat
Hello everyone, I've recently discovered about this forum and decided to give it a go. Anyways, I'm 19 years old and have CF. I've started going to the gym regulary (5-6 days a week) the past few months with the goal to acheive low body fat and build some muscles. Now, I'm at around 12% body fat and would like to go down to around 8% body fat to have more defined muscles. My parents are being parents and are worried about health issues. Question is, does having such low body fat can damage somehow my lung function or overall health? Thanks. (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Exercise and Fitness Forum)

MUST exercise and need encouragement!
Hi everybody. I'm a frequent viewer and commenter, but I've never started a thread. I've been totally slacking off my exercise, and I need some encouragement. I'll be 40 in a month and a half, and I used to belong to a gym, exercise regularly, and now I just don't. I have a treadmill and some weights. Start small, right? I'm tired and queasy all the time from Cayston side effects, but I like feeling fitter than this. Help! (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Exercise and Fitness Forum)

BCAAs
Anyone taking any supplements for working out? I am taking a small amount, mostly just branch-chain amino acids but I was wondering if anyone else has any recommendations or experience to share? (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Exercise and Fitness Forum)

Lung Washing
So my teacher asked if I've ever had my lungs suctioned before. I had no idea what that meant so after tons of research, I found out he may be talking about a lung washing. I watched a short video about it, and it looks like it would feel amazing. But what exactly is it? Is it painful? What's it feel like before and after the procedure? How much does it cost? I'm very much interested in trying it. (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Exercise and Fitness Forum)

Exercise Bike Highly Recommended
I want to share about this exercise bike "Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike" for you who want to buy this product. this upright bike is amazing. it is cold and miserable and snowy here and so i must be inside on the bike. The only drawback is that the pedals are a bit too far in front of the seat. i have very long legs and so i can make it work. you can adjust the seat for height but you can not place the pedals under your feet like a regular bike. my physical therapist told me that this is somewhat typical of upright bikes but i do not know. i did take my bike to him for adjustment to suit me and he place...
