Birth Psychology (APPPAH)
The Association for Prenatal & Perinatal Psychology and Health (APPPAH) helps benefit pregnant women and the overall general community by helping to expound on the field of birth psychology. There is nothing sweeter than seeing a newborn baby and holding it and loving it.  It is very important to understand (and is becoming more apparent) that babies understand many things going on around them, even inside their mothers’ womb.  Babies can hear the music their parents listen to and kick, or parents can read a story and the baby will hear the story.  We are finally understanding this as well as psychologists an...

Implicit Association Test (Project Implicit)
Project Implicit is a group of assessments in which a person is given choices to compare from about a person’s race, sex, identity, religious or other possible biases.  This social psychology assessment basically tries to combine a mental strength of a person’s thoughts with pictures they may see of a person who may fit that profile in order to establish how much of a bias exists.  For instance; with the sex test, you would be expected to see pictures of females and males, for race, one race versus another or more. While taking this group of implicit association tests–you can take 15 different ones at t...

Animal Hoarding: An In-Depth Look At The Phenomenon
Many times animals need good homes.  They are often brought into a home where a person wants to take good care of them, feed them, water them and make sure their every need is taken care of.  However; there are certain people whose idea of taking care of animals, while meaning to be a good provider of animal security, ends up being one of animal destruction and unneeded cruelty.  These unfortunate few do not mean to harm these animals, and actually mean to help the pets they so lovingly bring into their homes–matter of fact, they normally know them by their names or by the dates the brought them in or where they f...

Recovered Memories of Sexual Abuse: Scientific Research & Scholarly Resources
A huge website, well over 50 pages, compiled by Dr. Jim Hopper, in which he discusses amnesia, sexual abuse and recovered memories from the sexual abuse.  There are many different articles, by many different authors included in this website, and many different viewpoints. There is, of course a skew on the website, but it is a nice read and well-worth the time put forth to comprehend and absorb the material.  This is a well-done website and has been put together in a fine manner.  Well worth the time and effort! The International OCD Foundation: Hoarding Center
Have you seen the television show The Hoarders?  Many people who watch this show may feel that this is just a very few people who experience such things, and those people on that show are not exactly “normal.”  Well, unfortunately, this is more normal than most people think.  Hoarding is very closely related to obsessive compulsive disorder, and there are people who have rooms and buildings and storage sheds that are full of items of things that they may never see again (or know they even have to begin with). Thankfully, there are places that know about this kind of situation and are willing to help.  The I...
