Scientists call to suspend inherited human genome editing
An international group of scientists is calling for a moratorium on making inheritable changes to the human genome, specifically the use of the Crisper-Cas9 technique on DNA. The group met in Washington Thursday. It would be "irresponsible to proceed," the group said; stating the need for a better risk assessment and a "broad societal consensus about the appropriateness" of these changes, The New York Times reported today. Insurance company pays $3.5M HIPAA settlement for poor PHI protections

Top rural, urban, children's hospitals named by Leapfrog
The Leapfrog Group this week named its top hospitals, touting 98 facilities for quality of care and patient safety. The results are gleaned by the the consultant's annual survey, which asks hospitals to share metrics tied to safety and quality benchmarks. Two-factor authentication on the rise, small hospitals fall short, ONC says
