Leucocyte and Platelet Rich Fibrin in the treatment of intra-bony defects. Narrative Review

Some aspects of bone remodeling around dental implants
ABSTRACT: Considering that success of dental implants is not only related to osseointegration, but also with their survival rates, the aim of this study was to perform a literature review about bone remodeling around osseointegrated implants. A detailed search strategy was used for this, and articles published between the years 1930 and 2012 were selected. The rare data found in the literature demonstrated that implants are osseointegrated 30 days after their placement. However, active bone remodeling with osteoclasts and osteoblasts working in synchrony continues to occur. Therefore, after osseointegration, the initially ...

Complex rehabilitation of atrophic mandible with implant-supported prosthesis
In this study, we report the case of a patient presenting a severe atrophic mandible that was treated with short implants and stable internal fixation, without using bone grafts or biomaterials. The patient had a long history of failure of several previous consecutive treatments. Cone-bean tomography revealed a small amount of mandibular bone, suggesting a high risk of fracture of the mandible during drilling and installation of osseointegrated implants. We opted to place 5 implants (4.0 × 7.0 mm) between the mental foramens. Since the mandible presented a high risk of fracture, we inserted a titanium plate (2.3 mm) as bo...

Atraumatic Extraction and immediate implant placement into infected site with the “ice cream cone” technique and L-PRF: A Case Report
We describe a case report of a 53 years old patient with osteopenia treatment, which presented a longitudinal root fracture in relation to 9 tooth Single Fixed Prothesis (SFP), an active fistula and a bucal plate loss. It was prescribed the tooth extraction and the immediate Biohorizons ® Tapered Internal® implant installation. The regeneration of the bucal plate was performed using the technique of “ ice cream cone ” using Mineross ®, Mem Lok® and L-PRF. Metal free ceramic finished and characterized by manual polishing
Conclusiones: El acabado manual es un procedimiento ampliamente documentado, de fácil ejecución y bajo costo. Podría disminuir envíos repetidos al laboratorio protésico y así los efectos asociados a la sobrecocción cerámica, sin embargo, requiere conocimiento del tipo de cerámica a pulir y una aplicación sistemática.ABSTRACT: Oral rehabilitation through metal free prosthetics has given functional and aesthetic solutions to various clinical conditions; nevertheless, single-tooth rehabilitation in the anterior region is still considered a major challenge. In these crowns as well as in metallo-ceramic structures, ...

Compressive resistance of teeth with large conducts restored with two techniques
To compare the compressive strength of single-rooted premolar teeth, treated endodontically and restored using the monoblock technique and complementation. Materials and methods: 45 single-rooted inferior premolars ...

Effect of gender of the operator and application mode of adhesives on dentin hydraulic conductance in an in vitro model
ABSTRACT: Aim: To compare the hydraulic conductance of human dentin disks which have been treated with an adhesive by operators of different genders and by active or passive modes of application. 60 third molars of healthy adults were included in resin blocks. These were cut to obtain 60 dentin disks of 1mm +/- 0.1 mm thick. Group 1 and 2, the adhesive was applied by 15 male operators passively (group 1) and vigorously (group 2). Groups 3 and 4, the adhesive was applied by 15 female operators passively (group 3) and vigorously (group 4). The flow rate was measured with a diffusion chamber and the hydraulic conductance of ...
