Phylotype and Sequevar of Ralstonia solanacearum which Causes Bacterial Wilt in Curcuma alismatifolia Gagnep
This study used traditional and molecular methods to identify R. solanacearum strains from Patumma. All the strains were identified as biovar 4. A phylotype‐specific multiplex PCR‐based phylotyping of all the isolates detected the phylotype I‐specific amplicon of 144 bp and the R. solanacearum‐specific 281 bp amplicon. Phylogenetic analyses of endoglucanase (egl) sequences clustered all three strains of Patumma into phylotype I, sequevar 48 with reference strains M2 and M6. The study determined that the R. solanacearum strains from Patumma belong to biovar 4, phylotype I that originated from Asia, and sequevar 48. ...

Optimization of culture conditions for penicilazaphilone C  production by a marine‐derived fungus Penicillium sclerotiorum M‐22
Abstract The aim of this study was to optimize the culture conditions of a marine‐derived fungus Penicillium sclerotiorum M‐22 for the production of penicilazaphilone C (PAC), a novel azaphilonidal derivative exhibiting broad cytotoxic and antibacterial effects. By single factor experiments, the effects to the production of PAC of aged seawater concentration, initial pH values, fermentation time, carbon sources, nitrogen sources and inorganic salt sources were investigated individually. Response surface methodology (RSM) analysis was adopted to investigate the interactions between variables and determine the optimal va...

An adapted isolation procedure reveals Photobacterium spp. as common spoilers on modified atmosphere packaged meats
This study employed a comparative isolation approach of Photobacterium spp. and aimed to develop an adapted isolation procedure for recovery from food samples, as demonstrated for different meats: Marine broth is used for resuspending and dilution of food samples, and cultivation on marine broth agar supplemented with meat extract and vancomycin at 15 °C for 72 hours. Identification of spoilage‐associated microbiota was carried out via MALDI‐TOF MS using a database supplemented with additional mass spectrometry profiles of Photobacterium spp. This study provides evidence for the common abundance of multiple Photobacte...
