Prevention of acute radiodermatitis by photobiomodulation: A randomized, placebo ‐controlled trial in breast cancer patients (TRANSDERMIS trial)
ConclusionsThe results of this trial show that PBMT is an effective tool to prevent the development of grade 2 acute RD or higher in BC patients. In addition, it also reduces the patients’ symptoms related to RD. Lasers Surg. Med. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. (Source: Lasers in Surgery and Medicine)

Safety, tolerability, and efficacy evaluation of the SlimME device for circumference reduction
ConclusionThe tested uniform ultrasound regimens elicited SAT temperature elevations, with a subsequent energy‐dependent increase in degree of fat necrosis. At the same time, the unique design spared the surrounding tissue from thermal damage and was associated with minimal discomfort. Taken together, the SlimME device constitutes an effective tool for destruction of stubborn hypodermal fat deposits. Lasers Surg. Med. © 2018 The Authors. Photodynamic therapy via navigational bronchoscopy for peripheral lung cancer in dogs
ConclusionThese results suggest that PDT can be successfully deployed to treat peripheral lung cancers using navigational bronchoscopy. Furthermore, damage to surrounding noncancerous tissues can be minimized with accurate placement of the optical fiber. Studies of this modality to treat peripheral lung cancers in humans may be warranted. Lasers Surg. Med. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. (Source: Lasers in Surgery and Medicine)

Heat transfer analysis and resolution quantification of active dynamic thermography through human skin
ConclusionsThis study has characterized the correlation between thermal stimulus input and resolvable object size and depth for ADT. Through ex vivo experimentation it has also quantified the functional imaging depth to below the sub‐cutis, beyond that of conventional imaging techniques. Lasers Surg. Baseline ICIQ ‐UI score, body mass index, age, average birth weight, and perineometry duration as promising predictors of the short‐term efficacy of Er:YAG laser treatment in stress urinary incontinent women: A prospective cohort study
ConclusionsA relevant decrease in ICIQ‐UI (MID) of ≥30% can be predicted based on age, body mass index, average birth weight, perineometer squeeze duration, and ICIQ‐UI scores before the intervention. The association between Q‐tip test and treatment outcome was moderated by age. Q‐tip was a significant predictor for patients between 44 and 53 years of age. The best results should be expected in younger women with a body mass index of ≤23.3, average birth weight of >3.6 kg, ICIQ‐UI at a baseline of ≤10, and perineometer squeeze duration at a baseline of ≥3.51 seconds. The critical age for Er:YAG las...

Gold nanospheres enhanced photothermal therapy in a rat model
ConclusionThis in vitro and in vivo experimental results show that PEG‐GNPs combined with laser light could be a promising modality to reduce the radiant exposure required for obvious blood thermal response, thereby providing a potential strategy for improving the laser treatment of cutaneous vascular lesions. Combination of platelet rich plasma in fractional carbon dioxide laser treatment increased clinical efficacy of for acne scar by enhancement of collagen production and modulation of laser ‐induced inflammation
ConclusionTaken together with human study results combined with the data from cell experiments we suggest that PRP treatment increased fibrogenetic molecules induced by fractional CO2 laser, which have association with clinical effect. In vitro investigations of propulsion during laser lithotripsy using video tracking
ConclusionThe proposed vertical column method with video tracking appears advantageous compared to the pendulum method in terms of the statistical significance of the obtained results. This may partly be understood by the fact that the entire motion of the stones contributes to the data analysis, rather than just their maximum distance from the initial position. The key difference is, however, that the pendulum method involves only one single laser pulse in each experiment run, which renders this method rather tedious to perform. Furthermore, the video tracking method appears much better suited to model a clinical lithotri...
