Five-year survival, performance, and neurodevelopmental outcome following cardiopulmonary resuscitation after pediatric cardiac surgery, preliminary investigation in a single-center experience
ConclusionTwo-thirds of children requiring CPR post cardiac surgery survived after 5 years. Their neurodevelopmental and functional evaluation demonstrated worse outcome in comparison with their matching cases. CPR duration, number of CPA events, and late CPA were risk factors for poor outcome. Rehabilitation and special education programs might be needed for these groups of children with special needs. Real-world use of ticagrelor versus clopidogrel in percutaneous coronary intervention-treated ST-elevation myocardial infarction patients: A single-center registry study
ConclusionTicagrelor was preferred in low bleeding risk patients, which may have contributed to less BARC 3–5 bleeding and lower mortality for T-DAPT. Thus, bleeding mitigation is a clinical priority when selecting DAPT for PCI-treated STEMI patients. Continuation of initial DAPT regimen was typical, but early switching from clopidogrel to ticagrelor shows willingness to optimize DAPT. Patients with very low CRUSADE scores (<21.5) may be appropriate for switching to a potent P2Y12 inhibitor. (Source: Journal of the Saudi Heart Association)

Safety and Efficacy of Off-label use of Ivabradine in Patients with Acute Heart Failure
ConclusionThe results of this pilot study demonstrated the safety of the early use of ivabradine alone versus beta-blockers when tolerated, in patients admitted with acute HF (both acutely decompensated as well as de novo). Patients in both groups achieved comparable reduction in heart rate with improvement in functional capacity and exercise tolerance. (Source: Journal of the Saudi Heart Association)
