Comparing levels of psychological stress and its inducing factors among medical students
ConclusionThis study infers that the first year of medical studies, academic stress, the presence of a physical problem, and being married are independent risk factors for HPS. We recommend mandatory stress screening for MS in all medical colleges. Ideally, the screening should be repeated every six months and students identified as having HPS should be provided with counselling, mental health services, and a proper follow-up. Protective effects of Ajwa date extract against tissue damage induced by acute diclofenac toxicity
ConclusionADE is a safe, tissue-protective nutritional agent that alleviates cellular and tissue-damaging effects due to acute diclofenac toxicity. ADE relieved hepatic and pulmonary changes induced by acute diclofenac toxicity. The use of ADE is recommended for the treatment of acute diclofenac toxicity. ConclusionsClinicians can choose any upper-extremity position to measure hand-grip and key-pinch strength. Furthermore, clinicians should aim to maintain and restore almost equal scores for hand-grip and pinch strength of the dominant and non-dominant hands to ensure better hand function. The introduction of a ‘wellbeing and health curriculum’ with adequate support from the physical environment and a culture that promotes physical wellbeing is needed. Vaso-occlusive crises in patients with sickle cell disease: Parents' perspectives and association with disease outcomes
ConclusionIn this study, the parents of SCD patients had a good level of knowledge about VOCs. There was a significant association between the parents' awareness of VOCs and a better disease outcome in their children, as they had fewer attacks and hospital admissions. Iron status and hepcidin levels as potential regulators of haemoglobin homeostasis in overweight and obese women of childbearing age
ConclusionThis study showed a correlation between iron status and Hb levels in overweight and obese women of childbearing age. All the women had erythropoiesis with iron deficiency anaemia. We recommend that overweight and obese women undergo further iron parameters for the detection of early anaemia. Association between qat chewing and dyslipidaemia among young males
ConclusionThis study showed high prevalence of dyslipidaemia among Yemeni male qat chewers. Low HDL-C level was the main lipid variable, followed by hypertriglyceridaemia. Genetic factors, war conditions, physical inactivity, and low-fat traditional Yemeni diet were considered the determinants of the study findings. Correlations between serum inflammatory markers and comorbidities in patients with end-stage renal disease
