Effects of glazing methods on the optical and surface properties of silicate ceramics
ConclusionsZirconia-reinforced silicate ceramics have higher opalescence and lower translucency values than lithium disilicate ceramics. Increase in surface roughness reduces translucency. Glaze powder/liquid after-crystallization is the most effective way to reduce surface roughness of lithium disilicate ceramics while that is mechanical polishing after-crystallization for zirconia-reinforced silicate ceramics. Surface treatments of a glass-fiber reinforced composite: Effect on the adhesion to a composite resin
ConclusionsIn terms of pre-treatments, silica coating promotes the best bonding performance, but pre-treatments can be dispensable when applying Single Bond Universal. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

Fabrication systems for restorations and fixed dental prostheses made of titanium and titanium alloys
ConclusionsRegardless of the fabrication system, titanium and titanium alloy restorations and fixed dental prostheses can be applied clinically. Titanium and titanium alloys are thought to be a promising alternative to the dental metals currently used. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

In vitro investigation of fracture load and aging resistance of high-speed sintered monolithic tooth-borne zirconia crowns
ConclusionsIt was concluded that the monolithic zirconia crowns produced by high-speed sintering showed no significant difference in the marginal gap and the fracture load after aging compared to conventional sintering. Therefore, the high-speed sintering seems a valid method of producing tooth-borne monolithic zirconia crowns. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

Denture flask fabrication using fused deposition modeling three-dimensional printing
ConclusionsThe 3D printing materials used to make digital dental prostheses have not yet been fully validated. Therefore, the production of a 3D-printed denture flask, which can use conventional complete denture materials, presents a new alternative to the digital fabrication of dentures. Bond durability when applying phosphate ester monomer–containing primers vs. self-adhesive resin cements to zirconia: Evaluation after different aging conditions
ConclusionsApplication of self-adhesive resin cements alone could be an alternative to pre-conditioning with a zirconia primer followed by the application of conventional resin cements. Formation of Zr–O–P bonds contributed to the bonding improvement of self-adhesive resin cements. Different aging conditions affected SBS values. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

Electrochemical evaluation of the hydrogen peroxide- and fluoride-induced corrosive property and its recovery on the titanium surface
ConclusionsOne M H2O2 and 1000 ppmF NaF can be used alone or in combination in the clinical setting without causing significant titanium corrosion because the corrosive properties they induce is reversible. However, highly concentrated acidic fluorides can cause irreversible corrosion. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

The effect of different cooling procedures on mechanical properties of denture base materials measured by instrumented indentation testing
ConclusionsThe cooling procedures recommended for PB resulted in the lowest mechanical properties. A and B may be considered as universal short- and long-cooling procedures respectively providing the highest mechanical properties for the materials tested. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)
