Cervical margin relocation in indirect adhesive restorations: A literature review
ConclusionsOn the basis of the reviewed literature, it can be concluded that currently there is no strong scientific evidence that could either support or discourage the use of CMR technique prior to restoration of deep subgingival defects with indirect adhesive restorations. Randomized controlled clinical trials are necessary to provide the reliable evidence on the influence of CMR technique on the clinical performance, especially on the longevity of the restorations and the periodontal health. A fully digital approach to replicate functional and aesthetic parameters in implant-supported full-arch rehabilitation
ConclusionThe FDT provided an effective fully digital protocol to capture all information for provisional full-arch implant restorations using an intraoral scanner and transfer that information to definitive restorations. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

Fracture resistance and failure modes of polymer infiltrated ceramic endocrown restorations with variations in margin design and occlusal thickness
ConclusionsFor the restoration of endodontically treated teeth, adding a short axial wall and shoulder finish line can increase the fracture resistance. However, further investigations, especially the fatigue behavior, are needed to ensure this effect applies with small increases of restoration thickness. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

Micro-computed tomography for evaluating alveolar bone resorption induced by hyperocclusion
ConclusionsMicro-computed tomographic images can be used to measure changes in bone mineral density in a mouse model of hyperocclusion. This method may be useful for further investigating bone changes in other periodontal disease research fields. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

All-ceramic inlay-retained fixed dental prostheses for replacing posterior missing teeth: A systematic review
ConclusionsA three-unit CIR-FDP is a viable treatment option for replacing a posterior missing tooth. Appropriate case selection, abutment preparation and luting procedures may be decisive for clinical success. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

In vitro fatigue tests and in silico finite element analysis of dental implants with different fixture/abutment joint types using computer-aided design models
ConclusionsIn silico displacement vectors in the implant fixture are insightful for geometric development of dental implants to reduce complex interactions leading to fatigue failure. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

Color stability of glass-fiber-reinforced polypropylene for non-metal clasp dentures
ConclusionsThe results indicate that the GFRTPs showed clinically acceptable color stability and might be satisfactory for clinical use. Therefore, GFRTPs are expected to become attractive materials for esthetic dentures. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

Effects of different numbers of mini-dental implants on alveolar ridge strain distribution under mandibular implant-retained overdentures
ConclusionsThe use of a low number of MDIs tends to produce low strain values in the retromolar denture-bearing area and around the terminal MDIs during posterior loadings. However, when using a high number of MDIs, the overdenture tends to have more stability during function. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

Pressure transmission area and maximum pressure transmission of different thermoplastic resin denture base materials under impact load
ConclusionsPressure transmission area and maximum pressure transmission varied among the thermoplastic resin denture base materials. Differences in the modulus of elasticity and nanohardness of each type of denture base were demonstrated. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

Psychological stress-relieving effects of chewing — Relationship between masticatory function-related factors and stress-relieving effects —
ConclusionIn healthy dentulous people, the number of chewing strokes has been shown to be a masticatory function-related factor that affects stress relief from chewing, suggesting the possibility that more appropriate chewing would produce a greater effect psychological stress relief. Comparison and evaluation of marginal and internal gaps in cobalt–chromium alloy copings fabricated using subtractive and additive manufacturing
ConclusionsThe marginal gaps of the LW, WB, and SMB groups were within the clinically acceptable limit, but further improvements in the μ-SLA and SLM approaches may be required prior to clinical implementation. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

Does artificial aging affect mechanical properties of CAD/CAM composite materials
ConclusionsFlexural strength of newly developed restorative CAD/CAM materials was significantly decreased by artificial aging. Cyclic loading or HCl exposure does not affect to the flexural strength and structural reliability of Cerasmart™ and Lava™ Ultimate. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontic Research)

Periodontal tactile sensation and occlusal loading condition of autotransplanted teeth: A retrospective pilot study
ConclusionsThese results demonstrate that teeth autotransplantation can achieve a mastication efficiency and periodontal condition similar to normal teeth; however, without proper healing, the periodontal sensation of autotransplanted teeth may be inferior to that of normal teeth (<250).
