Comparison of apical sealing ability of lateral compaction and single cone gutta percha techniques using different sealers: An in vitro study
Conclusions The apical sealing ability of lateral condensation was better than the single cone technique. GuttaFlow2 showed superior sealing ability as compared to MetaSEAL and AH Plus in both lateral compaction and single cone technique. (Source: Journal of Pierre Fauchard Academy (India Section))

Evaluation of the pattern and mechanism of bony invasion in gingivobuccal sulcus and gingival squamous cell carcinoma and its correlation with the regional lymph node metastasis: A histopathological study
Conclusion In our attempt to study the tumor invasion into the bone, we found no significant correlation between the pattern and mechanism of invasion and the regional lymph node metastasis. A possible treatment guide through our study to the surgeon from our side is to prevent aggressive resections and to preserve the integrity of the jaw and thus, to provide the maximum probability of cure and maintain the quality of life. Influence of storage methods of whole blood samples on DNA integrity in epidemiological studies
Conclusion We conclude that storage at 4°C temperature for whole blood does not substantially affect the molecular assay measurements. This study enlightens the influence of storage temperatures and duration in genetic epidemiology. (Source: Journal of Pierre Fauchard Academy (India Section))

An institutional study for determining the correlation of oral submucous fibrosis with serum haemoglobin level: A retrospective analysis of 100 cases
Conclusion There is no significant correlation between the serum haemoglobin level with OSF and also with control groups. Further large-scale prospective studies with different stages of OSF are indicated to find a correlation between the level of serum haemoglobin and OSF in this part of the country. Treatment outcome with a revascularization protocol using double and triple antibiotic pastes in immature necrotic teeth – A double blinded randomized control clinical trial
Conclusion The results to this study show that the revascularization potential of triple antibiotic paste is superior to that of the double antibiotic group. The increase in the root length is statistically superior over the study period in the triple antibiotic arm when compared to that of the double antibiotic arm. Gingival recession coverage using submerged graft with root surface biomodification
Publication date: Available online 30 December 2016 Source:Journal of Pierre Fauchard Academy (India Section) Author(s): K. Malathi, M. Shabbir Ahamed, M.K. Anju Aesthetic demand has increased tremendously in the recent years and so has the demand for the consequent cosmetic periodontal surgeries. One of the most common aesthetic problems encountered is the gingival recession, especially in the anterior region. Gingival recession is the exposure of root surface due to apical migration of gingival margin. Many patients seek treatment because of aesthetic concerns, root sensitivity or fear of loss of affected tooth. Thi...

Incidence of multidrug resistance gene 1 3435C/T single nucleotide polymorphism in patients with amlodipine induced gingival enlargement – A case control study
Conclusion Within the limits of the present study, it can be concluded that the susceptibility for drug-induced gingival overgrowth is not influenced by the MDR 1 C3435T single nucleotide polymorphism. Since the study was undertaken in a small sample size, definite conclusion cannot be drawn. Hence, further genetic studies in MDR 1 gene in a large population are necessary for justifying the genetic predisposition to drug-induced gingival overgrowth.
