A cancer specific middle ‐range theory of symptom self‐care management: A theory synthesis 癌症症状自我理管理的中层理论:理论合成
ConclusionThe new theory offers a comprehensive conceptualization of symptom self ‐care management behaviours in adults with cancer. It clarifies potential determinants and effects of cancer‐related symptoms and puts forth factors that may influence patient adherence to symptom self‐care management behaviours. This new theory may influence the development of symptom managem ent interventions across the phases of the cancer self‐care continuum. Research to test the new theory is warranted.目的本文描述了成人癌症患者症状自我护理管理的中层理论的发展。背景目前的证据表明癌症患者...

The relationship between workplace characteristics and work ability in residential aged care: What is the role of work –life interaction?
ConclusionsThis study advances understanding of how work –life balance and work–life conflict can influence work ability levels and shows that addressing the work–life interface may be a legitimate means to improve work ability, potentially leading to continued workforce participation.ImpactStaff retention in the residential aged care sector needs to be addressed. One possible means of achieving this is through improving work ability. The present study expanded knowledge of how the work –life interface may influence work ability. The research demonstrated that releationships between work ability and particular workp...

The Effects of Depressive Symptom Management Interventions on Low ‐Income Mothers: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis
ConclusionThe meta ‐analysis suggested that depressive symptom management interventions for low‐income mothers can be effective; however, the effectiveness varies by intervention type, intervention duration and whether the mothers had other children.ImpactThe findings of this study will contribute to the development of effective depressive symptom management interventions by providing scientific evidence for the development of such programs for low ‐income mothers, especially with respect to target population and intervention duration. This article is protected by copyright. The Role of Psychological Distress in the Relationship between the Severity of Pressure Injury and Pain Intensity in Hospitalized Adults
ConclusionsHospitalized adults who have more severe pressure injury and more treatments for psychological distress experienced greater pain intensity. Healthcare providers must pay attention to treating psychological distress among hospitalized adults to manage pain. Further study is needed to validate these findings and it should incorporate more appropriate measures of psychological distress. The lack of standardized nursing documentation in electronic health records severely limits the usefulness of data from electronic health records for nursing research. This article is protected by copyright. Associations between job satisfaction, person ‐centredness, and ethically difficult situations in nursing homes—A cross‐sectional study
ConclusionThe results support the theoretical foundation and previous findings suggesting that establishing NHs organizations based on person ‐centredness will increase staff job satisfaction. However, this is a cross‐sectional study and the causality may go in both directions and should be further explored. (Source: Journal of Advanced Nursing)

Public knowledge and expectations about dispatcher assistance in out ‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest
ConclusionThe public expect cardiopulmonary resuscitation instructions from the emergency medical dispatcher. However, the majority assume it is the responsibility of the bystanders to make the decision to initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation or not. Based on these findings, cardiopulmonary resuscitation training initiatives and public campaigns should focus more on the role of the emergency medical dispatcher as the team leader of the first resuscitation team in cardiac arrest incidents. Effects of oral hygiene programme and home phone counselling for hepatitis C patients receiving antiviral treatment
ConclusionsThis pilot study supports the finding that an oral hygiene programme can reduce oral discomfort, improve oral hygiene behaviour, and enhance the oral health status of hepatitis C patients receiving treatment. This is a simple and low ‐cost programme, which can be performed at home easily and boosts the completion of antiviral treatment. (Source: Journal of Advanced Nursing)

A predictive model for fall risk in hospitalized adults: A case –control study
ConclusionsThe newly developed SAK Fall Scale includes five intrinsic and two extrinsic variables and differs from other predictive scales for falls. The findings of this study are broad and the scale, which is easy to apply, can be used worldwide by nurses in health services. In advanced practice, the testing of a new model for fall risk contributes to preventive interventions and thus has an impact on patient safety. (Source: Journal of Advanced Nursing)

When Safety Climate is not Enough: Examining the Moderating Effects of Psychosocial Hazards on Nurse Safety Performance
ConclusionThe positive effects of safety climate on nurses ’ safety performance are contingent on the levels of psychosocial hazards nurses experience.
