DoRGaN: Development of Quality Assurance and Quality Control Systems for High Dose Rate Brachytherapy Based on GaN Dosimetry Probes
ConclusionFor developing systems for HDR-BT, the GaN probe has been shown to meet requirements for high sensitivity, high measurement rate, small response anisotropy and large dose measurement range. The proposed QA instrumented phantom has comparable or better characteristics when compared with diode-based and Al2O3:C-based systems. The other QC gynecological applicator has higher time and spatial resolutions than the state-of-the-art IVD systems, which proves that it is suitable for real-time monitoring of HDR-BT physical parameters.Graphical abstract (Source: IRBM)

3D Sequential Kinematics of the Femoro-Tibial Joint of Normal Knee from Multiple Bi-planar X-rays: Accuracy and Repeatability
ConclusionCompared to simple fluoroscopy, the accuracy of our method based on sequential images was of the same order of magnitude, with better results for the translation in the frontal plane. The low dose of radiation of the EOS system offers promising prospects for a clinical use of this method to assess the femoro-tibial sequential kinematics.Graphical abstract (Source: IRBM)

Sleep Apnea Detection from Single-Lead ECG Using Features Based on ECG-Derived Respiration (EDR) Signals
ConclusionsOur OSA detection system using EDRs features yields better independent test results compared with other state-of-the-art automatic apnea detection methods. The results indicate that ECG-based OSA detection system can classify OSA events with high accuracy and suggest a promising, non-invasive and efficient method for apnea detection.Graphical abstract (Source: IRBM)

Preview Distance Index for the Analysis of Powered Wheelchair Driving
Conclusion  This work showed that Dp allows to differentiate accustomed users from the novice ones using a test on healthy subjects. A second test on subjects with disabilities showed that this indicator can be used for analysing their abilities to drive the PW.Graphical abstract (Source: IRBM)

Generalized Framework for Control of Redundant Manipulators in Robot-Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery
ConclusionsThe results showed the capacity of the proposed framework to simultaneously comply the three tasks: the tool-tip trajectory, the RCM constraint and joint compliance in case of collisions in the robot's body, always respecting the priority order between the tasks.Graphical abstract (Source: IRBM)

Building Automation, an Acceptable Solution to Dependence? Responses Through an Acceptability Survey About a Sensors Platform
ConclusionOur results suggest that an automated system is acceptable by the target organisations under various practical, ethical, social and financial criteria. Our research thus also demonstrate the importance to adopt a social-technique approach that means to consider simultaneously social and technical dimensions in any system developmentGraphical abstract (Source: IRBM)

Intelligent Touchscreen Joystick for Controlling Electric Wheelchair
ConclusionIn this article, we explored an intelligent touchscreen solution that will address the problems faced by our target users. We conducted a thorough research on the types of existing control interfaces. We found that most of these interfaces use a discrete control of speed and direction. After testing it with a group of disabled users, we noticed the importance of analogic control. As part of our iterative design approach, we designed a prototype that provides this analogic control and in which we have implemented a calibration algorithm based on the neural networks algorithm.Graphical abstract (Source: IRBM)

Interoperable Infrastructure and Implementation of a Health Data Model for Remote Monitoring of Chronic Diseases with Comorbidities
ConclusionFor the remote monitoring of patients with multiple chronic conditions, we developed a generic architecture that allows different telemedicine applications associated with specific diseases to share a common technical platform. This work was to propose at first, a health data model for the patient's vital signs, and, on the other hand second, a study of communication standards to achieve an interoperable system.Graphical abstract (Source: IRBM)

Review on Biomedical Techniques for Imaging Electrical Impedance
Publication date: Available online 3 July 2018Source: IRBMAuthor(s): P. Grasland-Mongrain, C. LafonAbstractElectrical impedance of a medium helps to predict the behavior of electrical currents in a medium. Electrical impedance refers indeed to the “difficulty”, for an electrical current, to spread through the medium. While the first impedance measurements were focused on cardiovascular parameters, techniques are now being applied to the whole body, as electrical impedance present important variations through the human body and could then offer a new source of contrast.Combining electrical current, magnetic fields, and ...

A Comparative Study of Two Ambulatory Core Temperature Assessment Methods
Conclusion. The non-invasive ZHF sensor gave an accurate estimation of T COpill in steady state but not during exercise. However, complementary results let suppose that ZHF performance is not affected by ambient conditions and could be a relevant alternative for deep body temperature measurement during whole-body heat stress. A Simple Method for Measuring the Changeable Mechanical Action of Unloader Knee Braces for Osteoarthritis
Conclusion These results demonstrate the validity of the proposed device for measuring constraints induced by the dynamic unloader knee brace. An example of an application is provided through an orthosis moment calculation using kinematic data, which reveal a changeable mechanical action, necessary to improve comfort resulting in potentially better compliance.
