Sleep bruxism is affected by peripheral benzodiazepine receptor gene polymorphisms
Conclusions Genetic factors, such as PBR gene polymorphisms, may influence psychological stress management through bruxism during sleep. When treating sleep bruxism it is important to take genetic factors into consideration for a personalized medicine approach. (Source: International Journal of Stomatology and Occlusion Medicine)

Multidisciplinary treatment in a case of loss of posterior vertical dimension
Abstract Traumatic occlusion due to anterior crossbite malocclusion, missing posterior teeth and generalized moderate chronic periodontitis were some of the problems presented by this 58-year-old patient. The problems also included high mobility of the maxillary left central incisor, high gingival recession with attachment loss and periodontal deep pockets. The loss of supporting periodontal tissue was more evident on the maxillary left central incisor which was due to the traumatic position of the tooth aggravated by a forced anterior position of the mandible and a non-adjusted crown that promoted bact...

Interdisciplinary approach to the mandibular therapeutic position in oral rehabilitation
Abstract The following article attempts to summarize the important elements that were highlighted during the last congress of the International Academy of Advanced Interdisciplinary Dentistry. The meeting objectives were to propose answers to the following practical questions: why change the maximal intercuspation (mICP) of a patient? Where should a new mICP be constructed? When should invasive treatment be used? (Source: International Journal of Stomatology and Occlusion Medicine)

Vertical facial height and its correlation with facial width and depth
Conclusions High or low mandibular plane angle might not necessarily be accompanied by long or short anterior face height, respectively. The PFH rather than AFH is assumed to play a key role in the vertical facial type whereas AFH seems to undergo relatively intrinsic growth. The mandibular response to occlusal relief using a flat guidance splint
Conclusion The masticatory organ appears to self-regulate and to provide an oral behavior modification, which may be more physiological using the FGS as a compensating factor. In this context, it is assumed that sleep bruxism in terms of parafunctional activity is a physiological function of the masticatory organ. The results of this study indicate the importance of controlling anterior guidance in the functional reconstruction of human occlusion.
