Hidden Markov Random Fields and Swarm Particles: A Winning Combination in Image Segmentation
We present a method that combines Hidden Markov Random Fields (HMRF) and Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO) to perform segmentation. HMRF is used for modelling the segmentation problem. This elegant model leads to an optimization problem. The latter is solved using PSO method whose parameters setting is a task in itself. We conduct a study for the choice of parameters that give a good segmentation. The quality of segmentation is evaluated on grounds truths images using Misclassification Error criterion. We use the NDT (Non Destructive Testing) image dataset to evaluate several segmentation methods. These results show a supr...

Fast Authentication during Handover in 4G LTE/SAE Networks
Publication date: 2014 Source:IERI Procedia, Volume 10 Author(s): Mourad Abdeljebbar , Rachid El Kouch The LTE/SAE (Long Term Evolution/System Architecture Evolution) architecture design is greatly different from the existing network (3G) which brings with it a need to adapt and improve the security functions. In fact, the security issues in telecommunications networks will be surely a big discussion subject in the next few years whither the delay remains very important and should be minimized. Thus, the Handover Keying Working Group (HOKEY) tries to reduce the delay caused by the authentication once the mobile user ...

Adaptive Clustering based Dynamic Routing of Wireless Sensor Networks via Generalized Ant Colony Optimization
Publication date: 2014 Source:IERI Procedia, Volume 10 Author(s): Zhengmao Ye , Habib Mohamadian Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) use battery-powered sensor nodes for sensing, thus the energy efficiency is critical to extend the lifespan. The performance depends on the trade-off among energy consumption, latency and reliability. Data aggregation is a fundamental approach to eliminate redundancy and minimize transmission cost so as to save energy. Dynamic clustering based routing is proposed to achieve good performance via adaptive algorithms. The generalized Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) is applied to increase the rel...
